  • Charming and quirky art style that draws players in and adds personality to the game.
  • Engaging incremental gameplay with a unique typewriter mechanic and meaningful progression through the 'retreat' prestige system.
  • Developer is responsive to feedback and provides a fun, addictive, and relaxing experience suitable for incremental/clicker game fans.
  • Early game can feel slow and grind-heavy due to heavy reliance on prestige resets and resource management.
  • Some Plot Devices are overly obvious or clichéd, which can reduce thematic immersion.
  • Higher price point compared to similar games in the genre may make it less appealing unless purchased on discount.

  • gameplay

    3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative
100% positive mentions, 0% neutral mentions, 0% negative mentions

The gameplay is straightforward and familiar, featuring a retreat mechanic that uses collected inspiration to provide boosts and automate actions. Its engaging loop has inspired numerous similar games on Steam.

    • “Going on a 'retreat' lets you spend inspiration (something you can find during play) to give you starting boosts, speed up gameplay, and even automate parts of it.”
    • “Digseum's gameplay loop was so nice that plenty of copycats emerged on Steam.”
    • “The gameplay is pretty simple, mirroring other games I've played.”

0% positive mentions, 0% neutral mentions, 100% negative mentions

The story features plot devices that enhance engagement but can feel somewhat obvious or clichéd at times, such as stereotypical elements like a "cool scar." Gameplay involves discovering these devices through interactive cues, pausing progression until the player advances.

    • “If you unearth a plot device, it adds to the book's sale value.”
    • “Find all the plot devices on one keyboard, and it pauses until you click a 'continue' link on the side to get a new keyboard.”
    • “The plot devices are sometimes a bit on the nose (like the 'cool scar' in the young adult category).”

  • stability

    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative
0% positive mentions, 0% neutral mentions, 100% negative mentions

The game is generally stable during main progression but experiences some bugs, crashes, and lag issues after the end-game.
