About GameBrain

GameBrain exists to answer one question: "What should I play next?" Whether you game on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, or your phone, we help you cut through the noise of hundreds of thousands of titles and find the games that actually fit your taste. 🎮

Here's the deal: your time is precious, and digging through hours of YouTube let's plays and reviews just to pick your next game isn't always in the cards. With new games dropping every week, finding the hidden gems that match your interests can feel like a Herculean task. That's where GameBrain swoops in — no fluff, no filler, just fast and honest recommendations.

Think of us as your trusty sidekick in the world of gaming: a fellow player who's been there, done that, and knows exactly what floats your boat — whether you're crushing it in Wordle or braving the challenges of Elden Ring. We're not here to be snooty or judgmental, just wise, warm, and welcoming guides through the vast world of video games.

Who we are

GameBrain was founded in 2023 by two engineers who spent years building search and recommendation engines — and who relish a good gaming session after work. It's our passion side project: we build it in our free time, simply because it's the tool we always wanted as players ourselves.

David Urbansky — Co-Founder

David has been building search engines for over 15 years. He holds a PhD in computer science from TU Dresden, co-founded the e-commerce search company SEMKNOX (the company behind Site Search 360) and led it as CEO until its acquisition, and created spoonacular, one of the most widely used food APIs on the web. At GameBrain he takes care of the brain itself: the game database, the search engine, the recommendation logic, and the video game API.

Jaro is a senior full-stack developer based in Prague who spent years building search products at SEMKNOX and Site Search 360, and continues that work at the company that acquired it. At GameBrain he builds the product you're looking at right now — from the recommendation flows down to the last pixel — and stress-tests it the fun way: by gaming.

How we make money

Transparency matters to us, so here is exactly how GameBrain keeps the lights on:

  • Affiliate links. Game pages link to stores where you can buy the games. If you purchase through one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links are clearly marked, and they never influence our ratings or recommendations.
  • Our video game API. Developers and businesses pay to use the GameBrain API, the same engine that powers this site.
  • Donations. If GameBrain helped you find your next favorite game, you can buy us a coffee. ☕

That's it. No banner ads, no selling user data, and no paid placements — if a game shows up in your recommendations, it's because the brain thinks you'll love it, not because someone paid for the spot.

So gear up, fellow adventurer. The gaming world awaits, and we're here to make sure every moment counts. Let's level up together! 🚀
