Gary Grigsby's War in the East 2
It goes without saying that WitE2 will appeal to a niche audience and I suspect you already know if that includes you. This series is geared towards people who want to simulate, as close as possible, the titanic struggle along the Eastern Front. You’re not going to like this game if the idea of setting reinforcement and supply priorities for units, seems over the top. With that said, the game is accessible. However, there’s no getting around the fact that you need to dedicate some serious time to unlock WitE2’s full potential and that’s going to turn some people off. But, if you’re willing to put in the effort, WitE2 is unparalleled in the strategic experience that it can offer. Put simply, it is a masterpiece of game design and execution.

“It's so intuitive that anyone can pick it up, but the game mechanics are so detailed that you could spend hundreds of hours playing (like I have) and still be learning how it all works together.”
“From logistics and supply chains to combat mechanics and weather effects, every element is deeply researched and thoughtfully implemented.”
“Long-term matches against human opponents provide some of the most intense, rewarding, and challenging gameplay I've encountered.”
“It's a very detailed and in many ways advanced game, yet fails at basic mechanics which should really take precedence.”
“The game does not save gameplay or balance preferences between saves - so use extreme caution when reloading games at previous junctures.”
“All the supposed detailed combat mechanics, unit equipment and stats is nothing but smoke and mirrors, with very little substance implemented behind the scenes.”
