The gameplay is generally praised for its fun and engaging mechanics, drawing comparisons to titles like "Binding of Isaac" and "Rogue Legacy" with its roguelite elements and procedural generation. While some players noted issues with character and environment design, the overall experience is enhanced by smooth controls, interesting collectables, and a fair difficulty balance, making it a recommended choice for fans of the genre. However, there are occasional complaints about lag and a desire for faster gameplay.
“Interesting collectables/upgrades, different difficulty modes, and frantic gameplay.”
“The gameplay and the engine are solid, the levels are procedurally generated (which I love), the progression is fair, the music is cool and the game in general is fun.”
“Gameplay wise - this game nails it.”
“It has many of the same problems faced by spaceship looters: a lack of personality, non-engaging characters/environment/enemy design, and clunky gameplay. Any motivation to keep playing soon dissolves and makes me want to play the three aforementioned games.”
“In fact, it took me an entire hour and a half of gameplay before I was even able to complete a single easy run.”
“Gameplay is a bit like a multi-directional Binding of Isaac, but with progression elements similar to Rogue Legacy; firmly placing this game in the roguelite category.”

The music in the game is generally well-received for its upbeat and fitting style, enhancing the fast-paced action. However, many players find it becomes repetitive and dull after extended play, leading some to lower the volume to avoid fatigue. A desire for more variety in the soundtrack is a common suggestion among reviewers.
“The soundtrack is perhaps a bit too cheery for what the game is, but it just underlines the deceptive nature of the game.”
“The gameplay and the engine are solid, the levels are procedurally generated (which I love), the progression is fair, the music is cool and the game in general is fun.”
“Great little rogue-like, controls are sharp, ambiance and soundtrack are nice.”
“Music is a bit dull and gets very repetitive after a few games.”
“Sound effects are acceptable, but tend to get overridden by the music on default volumes.”
“The music fits in for the fast-paced action presented, but it just loops endlessly. After playing the first chapter a few times, I found myself turning the music down to avoid getting a headache.”

The story in "Feral Fury" is minimal and straightforward, centering around a futuristic panda armed with weapons who battles various creatures to escape levels and grow bamboo. While the game features a loose narrative involving panda invasions and randomly generated levels, many players feel the plot lacks depth and clarity, often leaving them unsure of its significance. Overall, the simplistic storyline serves primarily as a backdrop for the gameplay rather than a focal point.
“I originally had no idea the game was about pandas invading a world full of hellhogs, but that's the story.”
“The story mode challenges you to make your way through the randomly generated levels, grouped into five chapters.”
“In Feral Fury, you play a futuristic panda (yes, a panda), armed to the teeth with weapons with which you fight other creatures in your quest to take over planets for bamboo growing.”
“Luckily it's short; I guess it's supposed to connect the story, but I'm not feeling this part.”
“With no tutorial or instructions, I'm still not entirely sure what some of the game elements do or mean in terms of the story.”
“Only real criticism is the total absence of story, but it's no biggie.”

Feral Fury Review
Running and gunning, exploration, big bosses, upgrades and tons of deaths makes this game mostly enjoyable throughout many runs. While not improving on The Binding of Isaac's gameplay, Feral Fury does a good job of good enough replacement that can stand on its own if given the chance.

Feral Fury is a nice twin-stick shooter that is reminiscent of games like Enter the Gungeon, although it doesn't have as much content. The gameplay is smooth and entertaining, with four different characters to play as. It offers a decent challenge without being overbearing.
