The gameplay of Arcadegeddon is characterized by a mix of enjoyable arcade-style co-op shooting and solid gun mechanics, but is marred by numerous bugs and glitches that can hinder the experience. While the game offers a visually appealing aesthetic and a variety of weapons, it suffers from a lack of depth in its progression systems, enemy variety, and overall structure, leading to repetitive gameplay. Players have noted that the advancement mechanics and late-game content need significant refinement to enhance long-term engagement.
“If Arcadegeddon is to succeed in the MMO/roguelite space in the longer term, some of the advancement mechanics (such as preserving progress of longer runs) and late-game gameplay needs to be refined and expanded.”
“Arcadegeddon is Illfonic's most well-rounded multiplayer title yet, with a fun, engaging core and fast-paced gameplay keeping you going.”
“So many bugs that the game becomes unplayable; challenges that are 'randomly generated' seem to be used to keep the player busy with dull rewards; glitches found in nearly every stage of gameplay.”
“Lackluster offline and PvP modes; some bugs may impact gameplay; be warned: single runs may span hours; needs additional modes and enemy variety; advancement could use some work, too.”

Arcadegeddon Review – Apocalyptically buggy
When Arcadegeddon does what it’s supposed to do, it’s a rollicking good time. Experimenting with the zany weapon types, getting my butt kicked in the Battle Modes, and interacting with the vibrant neon world is so inviting. However, all those bright and sparkling qualities didn’t matter when Arcadegeddon’s glitches became too obtrusive to ignore. It’s a shame, as the game has a lot of potential to be a fan favourite for those who love to squad up with their mates and have a laugh whilst being challenged. As it is though, I would wait a bit longer to sink my teeth into this co-op experience.

I cannot help but appreciate how Arcadegeddon hooked me into this really player-friendly loot shooter. The arcade-y elements are replayable, rewarding, and worth playing with friends. Arcadegeddon hits the spot as an MMO with roguelite elements with an awesome arcade aesthetic. But, I want more. Much more. If Arcadegeddon is to succeed in the MMO/roguelite space in the longer term, some of the advancement mechanics (such as preserving progress of longer runs) and lategame gameplay needs to be refined and expanded. I want additional modes like time trials that can easily and reliably completed in a single sitting. At the same time, I want some additional variety to make a three hour gauntlet exciting to reach. If you're wanting a co-op loot shooter that's easily picked up and played, look no further than Arcadegeddon. If you want something deeper, wait around a bit. Hopefully Arcadegeddon can hit that sweet spot, too.
