Yuki Onna is a PS1 inspired survival horror game. Some children went missing out of the blue. You receive a letter that says, "Come alone or I'll freeze them to death." Out of desperation, you decide to embark on a daunting rescue mission to an abandoned inn up the piercing cold mountains.

- Strong atmospheric horror with effective PS1-style retro graphics and sound design that creates tension and dread.
- Engaging gameplay featuring challenging puzzles and item management, with two different endings adding replay value.
- Improved AI and gameplay mechanics compared to similar games by the developer, making it a more accessible and solid horror experience.
- Game is buggy with glitches such as getting stuck on geometry and enemy AI bugs, causing frustrating progress loss.
- No save system or checkpoints, leading to repetitive restarts and making the game feel punishing especially due to permadeath.
- Enemy mechanics can feel unfair or tedious, with relentless chasing, loud startle sounds, and sometimes prolonged hiding periods that hamper pacing.

The gameplay is described as simple yet engaging, with a solid core loop of exploration, item collection, and gradual escalation of enemy difficulty, creating a balanced horror experience. Despite some bugs, lack of save features, and occasional control issues, players generally find the mechanics intuitive and enjoyable, appreciating the subtle introduction of threats and the puzzle-solving elements. Overall, it offers a fun and immersive gameplay experience reminiscent of classic horror games.
“Even with the bugs, this is my favorite Chillas Art game because of the frantic and engaging gameplay loop, and I hope they make another one like it eventually.”
“The core gameplay consists of collecting items that will lead you to keys that unlock the children's cages and ultimately help you escape out a heavily fortified door in the basement.”
“In this game, the monster starts off weak and slowly gains more abilities instead of just having a bunch of mechanics the player has to look out for; they are introduced slowly as the player makes progress.”
“But no save mechanism, glitchy gameplay, and unpleasant bugs were just so overwhelming...”
“For some odd reason, the keybind controls always reset, even when entering and leaving buildings—nothing serious anyway, since the gameplay is very simple, with just a few key functions.”
“Mechanically, this means you'll be exploring the inn finding lots of items you won't know how to use, pocketing what you can in your four-slot inventory while you are harassed by Yuki-chan.”
