  • Beautiful and detailed graphics with immersive, atmospheric environments that enhance the experience.
  • Puzzles are generally clever, satisfying, and offer a range of challenge suitable for both casual and experienced players.
  • Engaging storyline with historical and mysterious elements related to Nikola Tesla that adds narrative depth.
  • Some puzzles suffer from inconsistent logic, excessive difficulty spikes, or unclear objectives leading to frustration and reliance on hints or brute force.
  • Gameplay is sometimes slowed by tedious animations, clunky controls, awkward camera angles, and restrictive node-based movement.
  • Technical issues including bugs, occasional freezes, soft locks, and lack of polish in some chapters negatively impact the experience.
  • story

    156 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story generally receives praise for its engaging and atmospheric mystery centered on Nikola Tesla, with many appreciating the gradual unfolding through flashbacks and environmental storytelling. However, some find it occasionally murky, disjointed, or overly text-heavy, with pacing issues and a somewhat anticlimactic or confusing ending. Overall, while not always perfectly integrated with the puzzles, the storyline enriches the experience and appeals particularly to fans of story-driven puzzle games.

    • “Overall, it’s an engaging mystery adventure with strong storytelling, memorable visuals, and plenty for puzzle fans to enjoy.”
    • “The story is interesting and keeps you curious about what’s going to happen next, slowly revealing more as you progress.”
    • “I’ve already played through the game twice now but if you're a fan of story-driven puzzle games, this easily makes my personal top 10 favorite story-driven puzzle games... maybe even top 10 favorite puzzle games of all time!”
    • “From subtitle/voice over discrepancies, "try out all the options until it's right" types of puzzles, a wild and strangely told story that, when looked at closely, is very straightforward and cliché, to doing Tesla's work a disservice by painting him as a crazy mythical genius.”
    • “The story still feels unfinished, leading nowhere and anticlimactic; texture resolutions are all over the place and the clues system keeps giving the player generic comments instead of the right nudge to keep them going.”
    • “Also, once I realized the random papers and letters strewn around have little to no value to solving puzzles I just stopped caring about them, because again, the story didn't have much substance and the cut scenes often overstayed their welcome.”
  • graphics

    105 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's graphics are widely praised for their beautiful, detailed, and polished visuals, which effectively create an immersive, atmospheric, and steampunk-inspired experience. Many reviewers highlight the smooth performance even on lower-end hardware and commend the art style for enhancing the story and puzzle-solving. While some noted minor graphical glitches or limited settings, overall the impressive artwork and visual design significantly enrich the gameplay experience.

    • “The atmosphere is immersive and gives off a mysterious vibe that fits the theme perfectly, and the graphics are detailed and polished, making it enjoyable to just explore the environments.”
    • “The level of detail is impressive, and the stylized visuals look really beautiful and polished.”
    • “I didn't expect the graphical quality to be this good, the attention to detail is what makes it really pop as you navigate through the chapters.”
    • “The graphics settings don't allow much choice, so if I wanted higher framerates, I'd need to lower the resolution.”
    • “This game is very frustrating, I have encountered graphical bugs and also glitches in puzzles that require you to reboot the game to try again.”
    • “Puzzles are convoluted and graphics seem poor for this day and age.”
  • gameplay

    80 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay centers on mechanical and electro-mechanical puzzles with a strong emphasis on immersion, atmosphere, and a unique electricity vision mechanic that adds a fresh twist. While many puzzles are satisfying, logical, and well-integrated into the historical setting, some are either overly simple, frustratingly unclear, or repetitive, sometimes hindered by clunky controls and occasional bugs. Overall, the game offers a solid experience for fans of mechanical puzzles, though pacing can feel slow and the electricity mechanic is underutilized.

    • “The puzzles are challenging at times but I really liked how everything feels connected and mechanical.”
    • “What stands out is the use of electricity as a core mechanic, it makes puzzles feel unique compared to other games in the genre.”
    • “While a few puzzles can occasionally feel a bit unclear, many of the mechanical contraptions are satisfying to solve and fit the world beautifully.”
    • “The odd thing is that there is quite a bit of scenery built for the game, so it kinda feels like they set up to do a lot, but ran short on ideas or budget for the actual puzzles and threw in some mechanics from the Room series to make you sorta feel like you're doing something.”
    • “I genuinely enjoyed this game, I had previously blitzed through the House of Da Vinci series (loved it) and was looking forward to see what this one had to offer. I liked the idea of working with electricity but, to me, it wasn't utilized enough, it was more of a visual mode of progression (like unlocking a door and going to the next room) aside from at least 2 puzzles (and I'll be honest at least one of them is a bit arguable). I really enjoyed most of the puzzles but some did frustrate me in terms of mechanics, and the hints only made me more frustrated as sometimes they just repeated themselves. Yes, I'm looking at the cup puzzle, that one, PMO I'll be honest, the solution left me feeling stupid instead of accomplished. No matter what I did I just couldn't solve it in a timely manner. 'Look at the patterns,' 'Maybe the patterns have the solution,' 'Did you see what patterns were on the bottles?' were all the hints gave and yes I see the patterns, yes I tried following them but the order didn't make sense. I was honestly asking the game at one point 'what order do you want these in???' Six random sized bottles with 3 patterns each, what did you want?!”
    • “Gameplay is clunky at best, control isn't optimized for Steam Deck at all.”
  • atmosphere

    62 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The atmosphere of the game is consistently praised for its immersive, mysterious, and beautifully crafted design that captures the essence of Nikola Tesla’s world. Detailed visuals, atmospheric sound design, and thoughtful environmental storytelling create a compelling, relaxing, and sometimes eerie vibe that deeply enhances the puzzle-solving experience. Overall, the game’s atmosphere is a standout feature that effectively draws players into its progressive-era, “what-if” narrative.

    • “The atmosphere is immersive and gives off a mysterious vibe that fits the theme perfectly, and the graphics are detailed and polished, making it enjoyable to just explore the environments.”
    • “Wardenclyffe feels atmospheric and beautifully crafted, capturing Tesla’s world in a memorable way.”
    • “The atmosphere is amazing, with a magical and mysterious feeling that pulls you right into the world inspired by Nikola Tesla.”
  • grinding

    31 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Reviews consistently describe the game's grinding aspect as tedious and frustrating, with many puzzles feeling slow, convoluted, and lacking logical flow. While some puzzles are interesting, the overall experience is bogged down by repetitive, unclear, and overly long puzzle sequences that detract from engagement and make progression feel like a chore.

    • “Overall, it’s a collection of individually interesting ideas held back by clumsy execution and design decisions that made the experience more tedious than engaging.”
    • “One half of House of Tesla feels like a proper sequel and evolution to their previous work, then there is the other half: for every fun mechanism, clever puzzle, or surprise reveal, there is a puzzle that lacks any sort of context or defies logic, hides interactive elements or useful tools in the background so you won't notice them, or hits you with a tedious manipulation puzzle that takes 10-20 minutes of fighting just to put all the pieces where they obviously belong.”
    • “Awful puzzle design (often unclear goals, endless tedious fiddling, and/or just plain illogical nonsense that may succumb to brute force...sometimes).”
  • music

    29 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music consistently enhances the game's atmosphere, providing a relaxing, immersive, and fitting backdrop that complements the visuals and puzzles. Players appreciate its calming, well-crafted quality, which adds depth to the experience without becoming repetitive or intrusive. Overall, the soundtrack is praised as a key element that elevates the mood and engagement throughout the game.

    • “The music sets the scene well and I could listen to it just to relax.”
    • “The sounds and music fit perfectly and make every moment feel more intense and engaging.”
    • “You can clearly see that Blue Brain are artists and everything about the game made the experience feel true to the setting, at least what I imagined it to be like, along with the time-appropriate music, top-notch graphics and attention to detail.”
    • “The music, writing, voice acting, and animations are all very good.”
    • “Performance is good so far, good effects and pretty visuals, nice touch on the theme to represent the building and interiors, music won't bore you or be a nuisance.”
    • “The mysterious vibe combined with the music is definitely there throughout and I'm sure over time Tesla will become a gem.”
  • optimization

    14 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is generally well optimized, running smoothly even on low-end PCs and devices like the Steam Deck, with stable performance and solid graphics. Some users feel optimization could be improved further, particularly regarding texture resolution. Overall, it delivers a smooth experience without noticeable performance issues.

    • “The game is well optimized and runs smoothly, even on slower computers like mine.”
    • “Controls and performance on the Steam Deck were excellent.”
    • “The game also runs smoothly without any noticeable issues.”
    • “However, I think the performance and optimization could be better.”
    • “For the rest, it's just fine for audio, graphics, and performance. I might add as a side note that it's about time to up the resolution for textures; some looked really stretched out.”
    • “Smooth Steam Deck performance; I could nearly finish a chapter before the 10% battery warning.”
  • stability

    7 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game suffers from numerous significant bugs that disrupt gameplay and force chapter restarts, leading to frustration and disappointment among players. While minor graphical issues receive attention, critical stability problems that halt progress remain unresolved, resulting in a buggy and unstable experience.

    • “I would definitely not pay the full price for the game and with all the glitches they had to fix along the way it just simply wasn't worth it and I am deeply disappointed.”
    • “The game is buggy, making you restart chapters.”
    • “Unfortunately, this game is far too buggy, and there are several puzzles whose solutions make no logical sense.”
  • emotional

    3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The emotional reception of the game is mixed, with some players feeling intellectually challenged and moved by its story and atmosphere, while others find the narrative generic and the puzzles frustrating and dull.

    • “Been a while since a game made me feel both stupid and smart at the same time.”
    • “In-depth puzzles, great visuals, captivating atmosphere and a touching story to boot.”
  • humor

    3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in the game is often rooted in absurdity and nonsensical elements, leading to a mix of confusion and amusement. While some find the "moon logic" puzzling rather than funny, others appreciate the unexpected and ironic twists that provoke laughter by their sheer unpredictability.

    • “By the final chapter, I was just laughing at how little sense everything made.”
    • “How?... I swear if the sequel has Mark Twain as a twist villain, I'm going to die laughing.”
  • replayability

    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game offers little to no replay value, which is typical for this genre.
