- Sclash is a visual masterpiece with stunning hand-drawn characters and painted backgrounds, reminiscent of a beautiful animated samurai film.
- The one-hit kill mechanics create intense and strategic duels, making every move count and providing a rewarding gameplay experience.
- The game features a well-written story mode that, despite its short length, is engaging and enjoyable, complemented by great art and character customization.
- The multiplayer functionality is currently broken, making it difficult to play with friends, and the player base is lacking.
- The combat can feel overly simplistic, with some players finding it repetitive and the AI lacking challenge, leading to a quick sense of completion.
- Voice acting and optimization issues detract from the overall experience, with some players noting poor delivery and technical problems.
- story94 mentions Positive Neutral Negative
The story mode has received mixed reviews, with many praising its engaging narrative and beautiful art style, while others criticize it for being too short and lacking depth. Some players found the voice acting and optimization issues detracted from the experience, but overall, the story is seen as a highlight for those interested in a simpler fighting game. Despite its brevity, the story offers enjoyable moments and a solid backdrop for the gameplay.
“The story mode shines through its beautiful environments and has a well-written story.”
“Gorgeous animations and art, a surprisingly good story that I wasn't expecting, and lots of cool cosmetics.”
“The story itself was put together really well and I loved how you would transition through the game.”
“The story is just miserably boring, the voice acting is a bit obnoxious, it's pretty poorly optimized, the settings and control menus are super janky, the time between attempts is way too long for how fast the combat is, and there are games that do this gimmick better, in my opinion.”
“Story mode voiceover is complete garbage as well; the pronunciation of Japanese words is wrong, for example, even 'Susanoo' is pronounced incorrectly.”
“For now, sadly, the story alone is too short and not varied enough for my taste.”
Sclash
It’s not like this title has exceptionally long legs; the credits will roll in Sclash in a little more than an hour. For a game at this price point, it doesn’t quite have the staying power required to justify the price of admission.
60%Sclash
Sclash is a simple side-scrolling experience. However, though it is straightforward, the familiar tale is fantastic. Moreover, the stunning visuals and classic oriental soundscape work perfectly with the theme. My complaints are that it is too short and it lacks difficulty. Yet, if you can overlook these issues, you'll love this striking, albeit familiar game. + It looks amazing. + The audio is great. + Responsive controls. + A familiar but enjoyable story. - It is not long enough. - The combat is too simple. 70%Sclash Review – The Sound Of A Dull Blade
With a short campaign, lack of online play at the time of release and undercooked fighting mechanics, Sclash puts its worst foot forward to deliver an underwhelming experience.
