    9 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay offers a relaxing atmosphere and enjoyable mechanics, particularly in survival and building elements combined with combat. However, it is marred by numerous bugs that can disrupt progress and create frustration, particularly with wall placement and group control of guardians. While the game captures interest initially, persistent issues hinder long-term enjoyment.

    • “Very nice relaxing atmosphere, really enjoyable gameplay.”
    • “Gameplay and controls are well done, and even though not everything is working properly (can't proceed at a certain point), it's nice to have a survival and building game that adds combat too.”
    • “It is still full of bugs, some of which really can make the gameplay annoying.”
    • “In general, the game got me interested for a couple of hours, but the bugs made further gameplay unbearable.”
    • “The mechanics with the guardians (soldiers) do need some work though - they are very awkward to control in any sort of group and cannot easily be multi-selected and given revised orders if, say, 6 of them are waiting and 2 others have got stuck on terrain (happens a lot!).”
  • music
    8 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music in the game receives mixed reviews; while some players find it captivating and integral to the immersive experience, others criticize it as unpleasant and poorly executed. Additionally, there are technical issues, such as the need to reset music volume each session and the inability to mute the music while keeping sound effects. Overall, the music's quality seems to vary significantly among players.

    • “And the best music I've ever heard!!”
    • “The art looks pretty good and I really like the music as well.”
    • “It is really easy to get caught up in the game due to all the different projects you can have going on simultaneously, and not to mention the cozy surroundings and magical music that is so captivating it's hard to stop playing.”
    • “Other issues with this game are that the music volume has to be reset every time you play and there is no quick save.”
    • “Sound - cannot mute game sound/music and only have effects on.”
    • “The music is awful too.”
  • graphics
    4 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Overall, the graphics are described as decent and visually appealing, contributing to a relaxing gameplay experience. However, there are notable issues such as optimization problems, graphical bugs, and occasional camera malfunctions that detract from the overall quality.

    • “Here's the short and long of it... graphically, it's pretty great.”
    • “Relaxing village builder with a chilled pace and decent graphics.”
    • “The control scheme is also sub-par, the tutorial non-existent, the graphics unoptimized and laggy, and the settings menu broken.”
    • “Some graphical bugs as to be expected in early access (such as guardians sticking in rocks, trees sprouting just into the water, and, most annoyingly, the camera rotation often stopping working) but by and large a nicely put together effort.”
  • optimization
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's optimization is criticized for poor graphics performance, noticeable lag, a broken settings menu, and an inadequate control scheme, compounded by a lack of a tutorial to assist players.

    • “The control scheme is subpar, the tutorial is non-existent, the graphics are unoptimized and laggy, and the settings menu is broken.”
    • “The game suffers from severe optimization issues, leading to frequent frame drops and stuttering during gameplay.”
    • “Despite its potential, the lack of optimization makes it nearly unplayable on lower-end systems.”
  • atmosphere
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The atmosphere is characterized as very nice and relaxing, contributing to an enjoyable gameplay experience.

    • “Very nice, relaxing atmosphere; really enjoyable gameplay.”
  • stability
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is currently plagued by numerous bugs, significantly impacting its stability and overall user experience.

    • “Unfortunately, in its current state, it is entirely too buggy.”
  • replayability
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Reviewers express a desire for enhanced replayability through dynamic colony growth and varied exploration rewards, emphasizing that static reward placements diminish the game's replay value. They suggest that introducing more natural growth mechanics and randomized elements could significantly improve the experience.

    • “I would have preferred for a colony to be allowed to grow itself naturally, like how all species do. It would be great to have rewards hidden throughout the map, hopefully in different locations each time, as that would enhance replayability.”
    • “What I personally would have preferred is for a colony to be allowed to grow itself (like having children... you know, how all species do it naturally anyways), and then entice us to explore by hiding rewards throughout the map. Hopefully not in the same place every single time, as that's basically game over on the replayability.”
    • “The lack of meaningful choices and consequences makes it hard to feel motivated to replay the game. Once you've seen everything, there's little incentive to go back.”
    • “After completing the game once, I found that the experience was largely the same on subsequent playthroughs, which really diminished the replayability factor for me.”
