The gameplay has received largely negative feedback, with many players criticizing its unnatural mechanics, poor hit detection, and subpar optimization. While some appreciate the potential of the zombie weapon mechanic and the variety of modes, the overall execution is seen as shallow and plagued by bugs, making it feel like a waste of time and money. Players also express frustration over the game's pay-to-win elements and the lack of innovation in shooting mechanics.
“I might get crucified for saying this, but Umbrella Corps has very similar mechanics (using the zombies as a weapon against your opponents) but does it all exponentially better.”
“Gameplay was good; the maps needed to be bigger, but I've been following this title from closed beta.”
“All of the zombie horde control mechanics feel fresh, and there are plenty of different modes to try. At least they tried to provide single-player content.”
“The gameplay feels unnatural, and it doesn't help that the hit detection is garbage.”

“There is a decent game buried here, but digging through the bugs, shallow gameplay, and underwhelming mechanics is just not worth it.”

Dead Alliance Has Some Great Ideas But Little Else
Zombies are everywhere these days.
50%Dead Alliance Review
You'll want to steer clear of Dead Alliance, especially at its ridiculous $40 price tag. There is a decent game buried here, but digging through the bugs, shallow gameplay and underwhelming mechanics is just not worth it. If you simply love FPS and are quite fond of the idea of weaponized zombies, at least wait until a big price reduction, a number of major patches, or give it a rental.
