  • Adorable and cute art style with a relaxing, cozy atmosphere.
  • Fun and enjoyable gameplay loop involving gardening, potion making, and experimenting with hybrid plants.
  • Completely free and accessible, providing a nice short experience for fans of casual farming and crafting games.
  • Critical save system bugs cause loss of most progress and inventory on closing and reloading the game, making long-term play frustrating or impossible.
  • Lack of content and replay value; very short story with few quests, and little to do after main objectives are completed.
  • Clunky controls and various game glitches, such as freezing, confusing interactions, and UI issues, detract from the overall experience.
  • story
    37 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story is very short and simple, mostly consisting of a handful of potion requests that end quickly with little backstory or character development. After completing the initial quests, no new story content or quests appear, making the gameplay feel repetitive and lacking long-term goals. Many players desire additional characters, quests, and expanded content to enrich the narrative and maintain engagement beyond the main story.

    • “Love the game, it's relaxing and you get to enjoy farming and making potions; everything is just peaceful, but the quests are too short. Maybe if they add more characters or just more quests to sell potions to, it'll be perfect.”
    • “Very cute and cozy, just wish there was a bit more content in the story-line.”
    • “A great thing would be being able to leave the farm and go in town, interact with others, and genuinely build a story.”
    • “The 'story' lacks coherence and is just a few random potion requests that stop after a while.”
    • “You get 6 quests total at the beginning of the game, and then nothing else after them.”
    • “At a certain point the game stagnates, the quests stop coming and all that's left is to make random potions and fill out the study book.”
  • stability
    18 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game suffers from frequent glitches, particularly buggy saving and freezing during actions like harvesting crops, which often results in lost progress and frustrates players. While some users experience minimal issues, many find the glitches significant enough to hinder enjoyment and recommend against playing until these stability problems are addressed.

    • “Buggy saving ruins this.”
    • “Sadly, anytime I harvest a crop, my game freezes.”
    • “The amount of glitches is a huge issue; for example, chapters don't unlock right after finishing requests, forcing you to either purchase them or risk losing all your progress by exiting and rejoining.”
  • graphics
    17 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics of "The Witch's Garden" feature a low-poly, simple art style that some find charming and relaxing, with an overall cute and soothing aesthetic. However, the visuals are considered low quality by many, lacking polish and detail, which may deter gamers seeking richer graphics. Despite this, the art style suits the game's calm atmosphere and indie nature, making it enjoyable for fans of minimalist visual design.

    • “First, I want to start off by saying the concept of the game is great and the art style is fantastic.”
    • “Besides that though, the game was really fun and I loved the graphics and art - pretty decent for a free indie game.”
    • “The graphics are adorable, the crafting is fun, simple, and easy.”
    • “The Witch's Garden is a kind of pointless mobile-app like ripoff of Stardew Valley but with low poly 'art' graphics and most of the game loops and narrative cut out, which really makes you wonder what the point is.”
    • “In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably.”
    • “The graphics could use some polishing but other than that the game is very much worth it.”
  • music
    11 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music is generally fitting and soothing, complementing the game's relaxing and cute atmosphere, but users frequently report issues with it glitching and overlapping, creating a jumbled and repetitive experience.

    • “Super cute art style and the music was fitting to the feel of the game.”
    • “It's a really nice game, super relaxing, no stress, cute, the artwork is amazing, the music is soothing.”
    • “I do find it annoying that the music is glitchy because it played the song 3 times with different start times.”
    • “This included the music track starting multiple times and playing over one another to create a jumbled soundtrack.”
    • “On top of this, certain seeds you need to make potions to progress the game are sometimes unavailable, plants may not harvest once they are grown, and unlocked areas become locked again in addition to the music now playing on loop over itself.”
  • gameplay
    10 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay features a charming premise with simple, enjoyable mechanics and a cute atmosphere, including a satisfying resource management challenge. However, it suffers from repetitiveness, a lack of sufficient quests, and significant issues with the save system that hinder progression. Additionally, some mechanics and the day/night cycle need refinement to enhance the overall experience.

    • “It has a cute atmosphere and fun play mechanics.”
    • “But it has a very straightforward and satisfying gameplay loop, and managing your mana and garden space is a fun challenge.”
    • “Fun game, could use a little help with some mechanics but overall nice.”
    • “The art is adorable, and it'd be nice to play if there was an actual save mechanic and progression, but this game simply doesn't have it.”
    • “It could actually be really cute - if some of the bugs were ironed out, there were more than a handful of "quests", the day/night cycle wasn't so incredibly weird, and there was some effort put into explaining game mechanics after the second chapter.”
    • “Not only the gameplay but also the visuals and music/sound effects are very repetitive.”
  • grinding
    7 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Grinding in the game is generally seen as relaxing and enjoyable, with a good balance of farming and potion making. However, some users find the quests too short and desire more content to keep the grinding engaging. Overall, it offers a simple, casual farming experience with room for improvement through updates.

  • atmosphere

The atmosphere is widely praised for its cute, whimsical, and fantastical qualities, complemented by charming character art and a sweet, enjoyable vibe.

    • “I really enjoy the fantastical, whimsical atmosphere of the game.”
    • “The atmosphere and aesthetics are quite cute.”
    • “It has a cute atmosphere and fun play mechanics.”
  • emotional
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The emotional aspect of the game is described as wholesome and lighthearted, offering a brief but enjoyable experience. While not deeply impactful, it provides cute and pleasant moments that make it worth playing, especially given its free-to-play nature.

    • “But overall, it is quite wholesome.”
    • “Overall, I'd still recommend it, but mostly because it's free to play, so it's worth about an hour of cute wholesome fun.”
  • replayability
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is criticized for lacking replay value, suggesting that players find little incentive to revisit it after the initial playthrough.

  • optimization
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is well-optimized, offering smooth performance and visually pleasing graphics that enhance the overall enjoyable gameplay experience.
