  • Diverse gameplay combining run-and-gun, death races, boss fights, crafting, puzzles, and exploration provides a lot of variety and surprises.
  • Strong art style with a mix of pixel art and 3D, supported by an excellent synthwave soundtrack and humorous, quirky writing.
  • Regular developer updates have improved game performance, controls, and fixed major issues, enhancing the overall experience.
  • Combat mechanics are frustrating due to stamina constraints, awkward shield control, and ineffective shooting, leading to repetitive and grindy gameplay.
  • Vehicle controls, especially with a controller, are clunky and not very enjoyable, making driving and vehicular combat less satisfying.
  • The story and NPC interactions feel dull and uninspired, with faction mechanics being grind-heavy and lacking meaningful impact.

The story received mixed feedback, with some praising its interesting setting, vibe, and surprises, while others found the main and side missions dull and the narrative unengaging. Overall, the story offers a unique post-apocalyptic world but lacks depth and compelling character development.

    • “Great game, fun post-apocalyptic setting, wacky characters, action RPG with car missions as well as dungeon crawls, exploring. Honestly, there's something here for everyone and it's just full of surprises.”
    • “Cool driving, good combat, interesting story, great vibe!”
    • “The main missions are dull and the side missions are also dull.”
    • “There's a throw-away story and you don't really care about the main character at all.”

The grinding aspect is criticized for being tedious and time-consuming, especially in building faction reputation through repetitive mini-levels, which ultimately feels unrewarding and impacts player motivation negatively.

    • “There's a faction mechanic similar to GTA2, but it's so grindy.”
    • “Getting a good reputation with one faction takes a lot of boring grinding mini-levels, and I just gave up on it after it had little to no impact on anything.”

The music features outstanding bass lines and a dynamic synthwave soundtrack that perfectly complements the game's post-apocalyptic, action-packed atmosphere. It enhances both combat and racing sequences with energetic and fitting rock'n'roll vibes.

    • “The bass lines in the music are amazing!”
    • “I play a mercenary named Claire, drive a weaponized car through a post-apocalyptic desert, beat the hell out of three rival factions with ridiculous names (the Wasteheads — really?), and between contracts, I throw down in rock'n'roll racing-style combat races with a banging synthwave soundtrack.”
