The gameplay is characterized by straightforward mechanics that are enhanced by fun and challenging level design, along with a visually appealing art style. While some players noted issues like annoying hitboxes and broken weapon mechanics, the ability to quickly restart levels encourages a trial-and-error approach, making it engaging for those who enjoy fast-paced arcade shooters. Overall, the game delivers an enjoyable experience reminiscent of titles like Hotline Miami, despite lacking a cohesive story.
“This is where the titular mechanic comes in... at any point, when dead or alive, you can reboot the level nigh instantly by hitting the R key to try again from the start. You will use this ability a lot; I'm not sure I've cleared a level in less than 3 tries (no, not even the first tutorial), but you just get right back on the horse and start over.”
“This is a surprisingly unknown game with great gameplay and a cool visual style.”
“Straight-forward mechanics and gameplay, but brought to life by fun and challenging level design, as well as a beautiful art style.”
“Annoying hitboxes, broken knife mechanics, broken SMGs.”
“You can reboot the level almost instantly by hitting the R key to try again from the start... you will use this ability a lot; I'm not sure I've cleared a level in less than 3 tries (not even the first tutorial).”
“The only downside is that there's no story to link it all together - it's unashamedly an arcade-style shooter only, but it does the gameplay well.”

The game is criticized for lacking a cohesive story, presenting itself as a purely arcade-style shooter with no narrative to connect the levels. Players engage in a series of missions focused on mastery challenges rather than a traditional storyline.
“The only downside is that there's no story to link it all together - it's unashamedly an arcade-style shooter only, but it does the gameplay well.”
“There's also no story, it's just level after level.”
“My only criticism would be the lack of story elements.”

The humor in the game is characterized by a blend of frustration and amusement, as players often find themselves laughing while navigating challenging levels and experimenting with unconventional strategies. The comical quality of the gameplay, particularly through the use of physics and the ability to rapidly restart, adds a layer of hilarity to the chaotic situations players encounter. Overall, the game successfully combines humor with its challenging mechanics, making for a uniquely entertaining experience.
“I've never loudly cursed at a game so many times in a short period, but I was laughing while I did it. There was a weird comical quality to figuring out a risky but efficient way to clear the early part of a level, and then screwing it up like four times in rapid succession. The first grenade level, where I realized shoving a bookcase over on the first enemy was a highly effective if unreliable strategy, comes to mind.”
“Towards the end of the game, each level seems so impossible it's both funny and frustrating. But with the power of infinite rapid-restarts, you can try out all sorts of crazy strategies and create some spectacular action.”
“Physics: ingenious and hilarious.”
