The graphics of the game are generally praised for their beautiful artwork and charming pixel art style, which many players find nostalgic and appealing. However, some users note that the pixel graphics can appear worse than expected in certain modes, and while the art style is appreciated, it may not meet modern graphic standards. Overall, the visuals are considered a highlight of the game, contributing to its enjoyable atmosphere.

    • “The artwork is beautiful.”
    • “The art style is amazing, the maps are fantastic and the community is wonderful.”
    • “A game with lovely graphics, a chill community, and multiple servers so no one has to deal with bad pings.”
    • “The pixel graphics look way worse than in videos or screenshots (unless playing in windowed mode).”
    • “I'm not a big fan of the new pixel art style; I love the Cyanmou style, but it's a shame Seyken was down, so I tried this one to see if it could overcome the past.”
    • “While the game is not up to modern graphic standards, it is intended to be that way - and I love it.”
  • story16 mentions

The game's story aspect is severely lacking, with players noting the absence of a plot, quests, and engaging narrative elements. Currently, there is only one basic collection quest available, leading to a grindy experience with minimal interaction or storyline development. Overall, the game feels unfinished in terms of storytelling, leaving players yearning for more depth and content.

    • “There's only one quest and it's standard collection fare, but it works pretty well and shows that the quest system is viable.”
    • “I believe this game can be the next 'Maple Story'.”
    • “For those who grew up on Maple Story 10 years ago.”
    • “I know this game's not finished, but I'm going to review it anyways since this game has no plot at all.”
    • “You get one quest when you start, and since they removed power leveling, getting to the level 30 cap is brutal due to lack of quests and people.”
    • “You just spawn in the small town without any words; you have to do something, 0 story.”

Gameplay reviews highlight a mix of potential and frustration; while some players find the mechanics and graphics promising, others criticize the clumsiness and limitations of the current gameplay experience. Many express disappointment with core mechanics that feel underdeveloped, leading to repetitive tasks and slower progression. Despite these issues, there is optimism for future improvements as the game evolves.

    • “The gameplay looks promising and it has potential to be a great game after a while.”
    • “It seems to be a very fun and nice game, with great graphics and interesting simple mechanics.”
    • “The game forces you to find a party which seems very easy (you'll find leveling and exploring dungeons a lot easier) and makes for enjoyable gameplay.”
    • “Gameplay is clumsy.”
    • “Love the idea, disappointed by the execution. These aren't things that typically get ironed out in alpha/beta; these are core mechanics that need to be in place before further systems are built on top of them to flesh out the game.”
    • “And progression in this game is a little bit slower. All I can do with my 3+ hours of gameplay is beat up the same enemy to gain levels, and I probably still need to do it when I log back in.”
  • grinding13 mentions

Players generally find the grinding aspect of the game to be excessive and tedious, often requiring long hours of repetitive farming with limited quests to break the monotony. Many express frustration with solo grinding due to low player counts, and the combat mechanics are criticized for being unengaging, detracting from the overall experience. While some players who enjoy grinding may find satisfaction in leveling up, the lack of variety and the need for constant button mashing are common points of contention.

    • “Having to repeatedly farm it gets a bit too grindy even for me—a guy who loves games like Final Fantasy, Secrets of Grindia, etc.”
    • “Overall, holding down the space button needs improvements; I don't want to spam my space button all day when grinding.”
    • “As old-school grinding mobs seems to be a core point of the game, the fighting being so poor really turned me off as soon as I started.”
  • music10 mentions

The music in the game receives mixed reviews; while some players appreciate the nostalgic and enjoyable soundtrack that enhances the gaming experience, others find it basic and monotonous, with limited sound effects accompanying gameplay. Additionally, there are concerns about the sound settings not being global, causing the music volume to reset each time the game is launched. Overall, the music contributes to a relaxing atmosphere for many players, despite some criticisms.

    • “This game has a great soundtrack, with a touch of nostalgia in the music and the graphics.”
    • “I would describe this game as relaxing, the music's great, sounds are nice, it feels like I have the freedom to do what I want.”
    • “Music is nice, I'm playing this game with a smile, hit max level fast but there are many things that let me enjoy this game.”
    • “You just hear the monotone background music and your character's attacks.”
    • “Music is basic and boring; the only sound is your basic attack (no enemy sounds or anything). You start in the smallest village in the world, with three merchants side by side and no dialogue whatsoever.”
    • “Sound settings are not global, and the music seems to reset to maximum volume every time you close the game.”
  • stability4 mentions

The game has been reported as very buggy, with users experiencing numerous issues at launch. However, there are indications that the developers have addressed some of these problems promptly. Overall, stability remains a concern for many players.

    • “I think once performance is corrected, some new game concepts like rendering or soft edges could make this game 'boom'.”
  • replayability2 mentions

Players generally find the game offers significant replayability due to its engaging mechanics, though some express concern over the limited number of playable classes and incomplete skill sets, which may affect long-term interest.

    • “This is a positive in my mind as it adds a ton of replayability.”
    • “Only 5 classes are playable at this time, and some are missing early skills (for instance, the archer only has 3 out of 5 viewable skills that are accessible).”
    • “The lack of variety in gameplay makes it hard to find reasons to replay the game.”
    • “Once you've completed the main story, there isn't much incentive to go back and play again.”
  • monetization2 mentions

The monetization system in the game includes microtransactions, although players do not perceive it as pay-to-win. There is confirmation from the developers, EpicBeyond Studios, regarding the presence of these microtransactions.

The sentiment suggests that the humor fails to resonate when the game's quality is perceived as lacking.
