• Effective atmosphere created through pixel art visuals and sound design that evokes a creepy and unsettling mood.
• Simple and accessible point-and-click gameplay that is suitable for fans of indie horror and psychological horror stories.
• Numerous bugs, technical issues, and poor optimization lead to crashes, frustrating gameplay, and broken achievements.
• Writing suffers from excessive typos, grammatical errors, confusing story progression, and inconsistent character behaviors.
• Gameplay can feel repetitive, tedious with backtracking, unintuitive puzzles with illogical solutions, and sometimes clunky controls.
• story
272 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story is generally praised for its atmospheric, intriguing premise and engaging tone, especially in the first half, with effective use of mystery, psychological horror, and branching endings. However, it is often criticized for confusing, rushed, and inconsistent plot developments toward the end, alongside numerous typos and presentation issues that detract from immersion. Despite its flaws, many find it worth playing for the unique narrative experience and emotional themes, particularly given its short length and indie scope.

• “The story progression and choice-based structure create an engaging atmosphere that pulls you deeper into the mystery of the invading creatures and the family’s fate.”
• “Its atmospheric presentation, multiple endings, and structured achievements make it a rewarding play for fans of story-driven games and completionists alike.”
• “The narrative is what really shines: following the perspective of an 8-year-old boy tormented by monsters gives the game a genuinely unsettling atmosphere, and your choices add a subtle layer of control over the story.”
• “The promising plot falls into a confusing mess that attempts to throw interesting twists for the player, but it falls flat as it further serves to confuse.”
• “This game started out very well, but lost the plot about 2/3 of the way through, the story became overly convoluted and difficult to fully follow, and the ending was just unsatisfying, confusing, and a bit disappointing.”
• “At the end of chapter 1,
Mary hangs herself after you tell her your story, for no reason at all
, and the game never bothers to explain why.”
• gameplay
70 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay centers on basic point-and-click exploration, item interaction, and light puzzle-solving, with a focus on narrative progression rather than mechanical complexity. While the "ignore" mechanic adds a unique psychological horror element, the puzzles are often criticized for being frustratingly obtuse or nonsensical, and repetitive gameplay and bugs detract from the experience. Overall, it appeals mainly to players seeking atmosphere and story over innovative or engaging gameplay mechanics.

• “The core gameplay is focused on exploration and decision-making with limited interactive mechanics beyond narrative progression and item interaction, which might feel simple to those expecting more mechanical depth.”
• “The blend of psychological horror, innovative mechanics, and creepy atmosphere makes it a standout in the indie horror space.”
• “The point-and-click mechanics are simple, but they serve the story perfectly — you’re not here for complex puzzles, you’re here to feel the tension and unravel the mystery.”
• “The gameplay is pretty much just a top-down point and click with slight puzzles, but sometimes the puzzles are just stupid. If you have the solution but didn’t do it the exact right way, it won’t work, forcing you to bang your head against the wall trying to figure out why you can’t oil the motor blade. For example, you needed to click on the oil first. This is not good game design; combining items in specific ways can be interesting, but in this game it feels like an oversight meant only to frustrate players.”
• “Super short, story is boring, gameplay is trash, very unclear on what you have to do.”
• “Meh, bad writing, confusing and sometimes boring and repetitive gameplay. Some puzzles are dumb and make no sense whatsoever.”
• graphics
50 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's retro pixel art graphics create a nostalgic, moody atmosphere that effectively supports its psychological horror theme, though they are intentionally simple and may feel too basic or outdated for some players. This minimalistic style enhances the sense of isolation and unease by relying on suggestion rather than explicit detail, but lacks impact in gore or intense scenes. While charming and fitting the narrative, the visuals may not satisfy those expecting more polished or modern graphics.

• “Its pixel-art style creates a dark and unsettling mood, and the sound design helps build tension throughout the experience.”
• “The pixel art visuals are simple but effective, evoking a sense of loneliness and unease that fits perfectly with the narrative.”
• “ Retro pixel graphics blend with atmospheric audio to establish a moody and immersive setting, well-suited to the game’s psychological horror focus.”
• “The pixel graphics are cute but lack impact in gore situations.”
• “Graphics might be too simple: while the style fits the atmosphere, the visuals are on the simpler side, which might not be to everyone's taste especially if you're used to more polished visuals in horror games.”
• “There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks.”
• music
36 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's music is minimal and used sparingly, often replaced by long stretches of silence and subtle audio cues to build tension, which some players find effective for atmosphere and isolation. However, many feel the lack of consistent or ambient background music diminishes the horror vibe and overall immersion, with occasional abrupt or poorly integrated tracks noted as drawbacks. Overall, the soundtrack is considered decent when present but would benefit from more polished and continuous musical elements.

• “Music is used sparingly, with long stretches of quiet punctuated by unsettling audio cues that heighten tension.”
• “The absence of a constant soundtrack enhances the feeling of isolation and loneliness, only interrupted by suspenseful tunes when danger is near.”
• “Rather than relying on loud stings or constant background music, the game allows silence to do much of the work, making sudden sounds or visual changes feel more jarring.”
• “The music and sound design are not as strong, with music loops having obvious cuts and sound effects sounding off.”
• “It feels like they had no idea how to add a soundtrack.”
• “I do however feel that the game would drastically benefit from having some kind of ambient music patched in, seeing as pixel graphics in silence just fails to build any sort of tension, which at certain points in the game becomes dreadfully noticeable.”
• atmosphere
32 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game excels at creating a tense, eerie atmosphere through its retro pixel art, effective sound design, and psychological horror elements, immersing players in a creepy, story-driven experience. Although its simple graphics and occasional silent moments may detract slightly, the atmosphere remains the game’s strongest asset, especially for fans of narrative-focused, unsettling indie horror. Overall, it offers a moody and compelling setting that emphasizes mood and story over complex mechanics or overt scares.

• “The story progression and choice-based structure create an engaging atmosphere that pulls you deeper into the mystery of the invading creatures and the family’s fate.”
• “Retro pixel graphics blend with atmospheric audio to establish a moody and immersive setting, well-suited to the game’s psychological horror focus.”
• “The blend of psychological horror, innovative mechanics, and creepy atmosphere makes it a standout in the indie horror space.”
• “While the graphics style fits the atmosphere, the graphics are on the simpler side, which might not be to everyone's taste, especially if you’re used to more polished visuals in horror games.”
• “Perhaps an ambient soundtrack in the silent parts could add more atmosphere.”
• “I was really disappointed - I could have forgiven the spelling for the atmosphere and the desire to see what happens next.”
• stability
17 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is widely criticized for its numerous bugs, frequent glitches, and stability issues that hinder gameplay and achievement progress. Many players report crashes, freezes, problematic save systems, and unresolved errors even years after release, making it frustrating and unreliable. Running the game in windowed mode or avoiding certain features may reduce bugs, but overall the game remains unstable and incomplete.

• “This game is extremely buggy. I tried to complete all the achievements and got stuck at the last one because I couldn't shoot the main character. The developers are not fixing their game. You can save only once, and the last saves are overwritten. The remake version does not count if you attempt to finish the achievements. Do not play this game.”
• “I'm kind of shocked to see the reviews are anything other than mixed. The game is a buggy mess as many other reviews have pointed out. I found playing the game in windowed mode reduced most of the bugs for me, but that shouldn't be a requirement for any game in the modern day.”
• “For a puzzle game, you need to replay the whole game 3 times (4 times if you make the 'wrong' choices in your first playthrough). And do not say 'use the save feature'—I'm not saving the game every time I enter a room because there might be a choice option, and I'm also not using a tutorial because I'm doing achievements to 'achieve' something, not to search it up on YouTube. The game is pretty buggy. For example, in the last room for the good ending, after you make the love potion, instead of giving it to Dave you can click the console again to make the love potion again to play all of the dialogue again, and you can do this an infinite number of times. There are more times where dialogue just repeats itself. The story is weak, really weak. Just don't get this game. I got it because it was 100% off, and as an achievement hunter, this game was one of the worst ones.”
• humor
17 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in the game is often described as ironic, dark, and sometimes unintentionally funny, providing moments of levity amidst the horror elements. Many players found the dialogue amusing and appreciated quirky character interactions, though humor reception varies, with some seeing it as a highlight and others feeling it couldn't fully elevate the overall experience.

• “There was enough humor to be found in its ironic as well as unironic dialogue to keep me smirking for most of the ride.”
• “Nice original story, very creepy, dark humor, full of references from old horror stories and nice ambience.”
• “If you click on one of the main characters, she'll either say "nothing good here." or "I've got nothing to say." or "hmmm..." which I found to be a funny little detail that in a way adds to their character development.”
• replayability
5 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game offers notable replayability through multiple endings, meaningful choices, and a variety of achievements and secrets, encouraging players to explore different paths despite its overall short length.

• “With multiple possible endings and meaningful decisions affecting your path, the game offers replay value and narrative interest beyond a single run.”
• “It is rather short, but replay value makes up for that with two endings (choices at key points matter) and a heap of achievements and secrets to unlock.”
• “Replay value: with multiple achievements and twists.”
• grinding
5 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Grinding in the game is considered tedious and monotonous, particularly in Chapter 3 where excessive backtracking and unclear mechanics slow down progress. Players find the plane sections frustrating and the overall pace of progression unnecessarily slow, with no rewarding grind-based achievements to justify the effort.

• “Chapter 3 is tedious, especially how you have to constantly walk from one end to another of the plane. Also, no idea why you can't just use the hatch when retrieving the dead body of the monster when you're in the cockpit.”
• “The plane section is just tedious and doesn't make much sense.”
• “Progressing in this game is tedious.”
• character development
3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Character development in the game is generally praised for being strong and enhancing the story, though some players feel it lacks deeper context. Small details, like characters' unique responses when interacted with, add a subtle layer to their personalities.

• “Really good story and amazing character development.”
• “If you click on one of the main characters, she'll either say 'nothing good here.' or 'I've got nothing to say.' or 'hmmm...' which I found to be a funny little detail that in a way adds to their character development.”
• “Some players might feel like it’s missing some deeper context or character development.”
• “If you click on one of the main characters, she'll either say 'nothing good here,' 'I've got nothing to say,' or 'hmmm...' which I found to be a funny little detail that in a way adds to their character development.”
• emotional
3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The emotional aspect is mixed, with some players appreciating the more lively and emotionally expressive portraits and character development in the original version. However, the story is often described as boring, and technical issues like typos and non-functioning achievements detract from emotional engagement. Overall, emotional investment may be limited due to these shortcomings.

• “The second has hints in dialogues and slightly different lines, but achievements don't work, so choose the original, as it also has more lively and emotional portraits.”
• “She will be given increasingly more dialogue, and eventually an entire chapter of the game, all in the hope that the player will become emotionally invested in her by way of osmosis.”
• optimization
1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is widely criticized for poor optimization, resulting in subpar performance and inefficiencies.

• “Really poorly optimized, I'd say.”
• monetization
1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's $4 price is viewed as a cash grab, especially given its defects and shortcomings, making it not worth purchasing compared to many free, higher-quality alternatives on Steam.

• “Just ignore them has the cash grab price of around $4 USD; it’s not worth it given the defects and shortcomings of the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.”
