The game's story is characterized by quirky, engaging campaigns and quests that stand out compared to other 4X titles, though some players find the narrative weak and repetitive. While the main story includes text-based interactions with factions, choices are limited, and the procedurally generated universe leads to a lack of variety in missions. Overall, the story adds liveliness but may not be compelling enough to sustain long-term interest for all players.
“If you like turn-based combat, cool spaceships, and a good story with a well-written narrative with side quests and whatnot, then you'll like this game.”
“The story-driven campaigns and quests are good.”
“For those that like to experiment, this isn't a deal breaker, and none of the odd choices of phrasing make a significant impact on the gameplay or story overall.”
“There's a bunch left to explore, but there's nothing in the story or gameplay that makes me want to keep on playing.”
“Except for the main story, where you sometimes interact with other factions in a text-quest style, but you don't really have any choices there.”
“It doesn't seem finished because the story is very weak and the game itself is incredibly repetitive.”

Gameplay is generally described as mediocre, with a turn-based system that lacks depth and immersion due to the inability to assess enemy strength before engaging in battles. While some players appreciate the experimental aspects and narrative, many find the mechanics cumbersome and reminiscent of inferior systems, leading to a lack of motivation to continue playing. Overall, the gameplay experience is a mixed bag, with some enjoying it while others feel it falls short of expectations.
“For those that like to experiment, this isn't a deal breaker, and none of the odd choices of phrasing make a significant impact on the gameplay or story overall.”
“Solid gameplay, and good narrative make this an addictive game.”
“There's a bunch left to explore, but there's nothing in the story or gameplay that makes me want to keep on playing.”
“Gameplay is okay if not a spectacular version of the FF style turn-based system; however, it is let down heavily by the inability to see what you are attacking before you launch an attack. Are your fleets outgunned 50:1 or do you outgun them 50:1? The only way to tell is to attack, and if you are launching the attack, you can't retreat either. This means the only way to play is to save before attacking and if outgunned, reload, which destroys any immersion in the game.”
“The best description of the gameplay is a very bad copy of the combat system in Endless Space, but you can never retreat after a battle starts.”

Players find the grinding aspect of the game tedious, particularly noting that it feels like a mobile game ported to PC, with cumbersome virtual buttons and repetitive tasks such as upgrading structures for resource management. This repetitive gameplay quickly leads to a sense of monotony, diminishing overall enjoyment.
“After playing the game for another hour or so, it quickly became tedious.”
“This is so obviously an iPad game converted to PC; the virtual buttons are tediously 'touchable' in the same way console games end up tediously real-button-heavy when ported to PC.”
“When you have resources, click the upgrade on the structure you put on the planet for mining, harvesting antimatter, farming, or entertainment centers.”
