The story in the game is generally viewed as generic and clichéd, revolving around a typical alien invasion narrative with little innovation. While some players appreciate the sci-fi tropes and the attempt at a deeper storyline through character videos, many find the storytelling lacks depth and is often overshadowed by repetitive gameplay and mission structures. Overall, the narrative does not significantly enhance the gaming experience, leading to a mixed reception among players.
“It looks good, I found the combat fun, and the story was interesting enough.”
“Bought this in the current sale and turned out to be a right gem, there seems to be a good storyline and customizable accessories and a lot of weapons to boot to choose from and you can choose to play male/female.”
“The game attempts to create a more serious in-depth story with the commander or general's videos where he's slowly losing his mind.”
“Ugly graphics, repetitive and grindy, 100% cliché story.”
“Story: nothing inspiring.”
“Earth's Dawn isn’t going to win any awards for storytelling.”

The gameplay has received mixed reviews, with many praising its solid mechanics and enjoyable combat, particularly for beat-em-up fans. However, several players noted that the gameplay can become repetitive and lacks depth, with some mechanics feeling disjointed or underdeveloped. While the game offers fun boss fights and a straightforward control scheme, it could benefit from more variety and fine-tuning to enhance the overall experience.
“As long as this is available for a reasonable price like the current sale (75% off), this game is solid entertainment if you like the gameplay mixture of an RPG brawler.”
“Gameplay is superb for beat-em-up fans, lots of 'get all the S ranks' in this game.”
“The bosses are all fun to fight and have different mechanics for each.”
“While the art and design of the characters and enemies are undeniably cool-looking and the story is full of sci-fi tropes fans of the genre will enjoy, the gameplay itself is pretty repetitive.”
“With these features omitted, gameplay often feels a little disjointed as you will be at the mercy of simply smashing the attack button over and over until an enemy's lifebar is depleted.”
“Due to the mission structure and lack of gameplay variety, Earth Dawn will begin to feel repetitive.”

The graphics of the game receive mixed reviews, with some praising the beautiful manga-inspired art style and character designs, while others criticize the animations as stiff and the overall visuals as lacking vibrancy. Many players find the aesthetics appealing, though opinions vary on the quality of the environments and the execution of certain graphical elements. Overall, while the visuals are generally solid, they are not without their flaws, leading to a somewhat polarized reception.
“As for the graphics, you can just look at the trailer and judge for yourself, but I think it looks pretty good, although the animations are a bit hit and miss.”
“Also, the designs of the characters are amazing and I love the art style that they used for it.”
“The beautiful manga-based art style is a treat to look at while playing, and while the characters are silly and charming, the environments are far less colorful and personality-driven than games like Dragon's Crown.”
“Ugly graphics, repetitive and grindy, 100% cliché story.”
“The art style and animation are just... so ugly.”
“Armor visuals are very different for males and females, down to there even being gender-based armors, which was kind of disappointing.”

“The music isn't bad.”
“The music serves its purpose, and some of it is pretty good, but it's really nothing special or memorable if you ask me.”
“It should be noted that the game has no English voice overs and the music is fairly uninspired.”
“Gameplay gets repetitive quite early on, music doesn't match the onscreen chaos, difficulty spikes can be very frustrating.”

The game features a significant amount of grinding, particularly in the mid-game, which some players find rewarding due to the variety of unlockable weapons and skills. While the grind can feel repetitive and annoying at times, especially with certain levels, the game offers flexibility in difficulty and mission replayability, making it more manageable. However, those who dislike grinding may find it overly tedious.

“If you hate grinding of any sort, though, you might be disappointed.”

Earth's Dawn Review
The foundations of a fast-paced and well worked action RPG are alive and well in this post-apocalyptic wasteland, but Earth's Dawn is let down by repetition and difficulty spikes. If you can stomach the negatives and keep chipping away at the release's robust progression systems, you'll find an impressive amount of depth and enjoyment to be had in forging your super solider – but you'll never quite shake the feeling that this could and should have been a better game than it is.

A competent 2D hack and slash with a great manga aesthetic and a deep crafting system. It's not going to blow you away, but there are hours of content to get through if you get hooked on the gameplay. Otherwise, you might find the repetition a little grating by the end of the game.
