I suggest changing the flashlight mechanic to one with limited battery that very slowly regenerates over time, with some upgrades to improve vision and battery life. If you are in the dark, you get attacked by something in the dark in every room except the boss rooms. This could add an interesting combat loop of preserving your battery for tougher enemies and limiting usage on weaker ones. Maybe even make the flashlight deal damage.”
