- The free-to-play model is generous, allowing players to unlock characters through gameplay rather than relying on a pay-to-win system.

The gameplay is characterized by unique mechanics for each of the 11 fighters across five classes, offering a mix of strategic depth and variety. However, players have noted issues such as lag, a confusing tutorial, and unbalanced card interactions, leading to a grindy experience that detracts from overall enjoyment. While the core mechanics are innovative and entertaining, the game's polish and user interface need significant improvement to enhance the player experience.
“Currently you pick from 11 different fighters, divided into 5 different classes which have unique mechanics for how they play their cards.”
“Interesting gameplay, good decks, good champions.”
“The core gameplay is really fun and it's nice to see someone try something new in the card game space.”
“Feels like a cash grab with the flow of the game, the lag, and the janky tutorial that only has a class version and no character version. The discard mechanic feels out of place, making certain characters feel better than others in terms of deck identity. For example, the Evangelist has to spend a lot of time passing turns to build up faith by spamming boons, which are the only cards they can play to get around their two-card-per-turn limit. This leads to a lot of one attack, one defend, and then you just can't do anything. Meanwhile, Techies can endlessly brick through lack of heat or ammo, while monsters just need to play one card to get around their one attack per turn limit. The game feels unfinished and untested, and with $70 purchases and an impossible free-to-play grind, I can't see it going anywhere.”
“Gameplay itself is slow, the cards are not appealing, and I don't even want to play after the tutorial.”
“The mechanics are a little confusing at first, mainly due to them being pretty unique and different from typical card games.”

The game's optimization has received mixed reviews, with many players noting significant performance issues, including slow animations and lag, which detract from the overall experience. While some appreciate the game's entertainment value and the developers' responsiveness in addressing these concerns, others criticize it as feeling unfinished and akin to a cash grab, particularly due to its monetization model and lack of character variety in the tutorial. Overall, the game is seen as needing substantial optimization improvements to enhance gameplay.
“It has a lot of slow animations, and lacks optimization, but it's very entertaining and fun. You can tell it has a lot of heart. After trying it, I consider that this is a game that I would pay for, but it's free to play.”
“I've had some performance issues, but the dev team seems very responsive and is actively rolling out updates to address these concerns.”
“Edit: performance issues have been solved.”
“Feels like a cash grab as it is, with the flow of the game, the lag, and the janky tutorial that only has a class version and no character version, even though that is an option. The discard mechanic feels out of place, making certain characters feel better than others in terms of deck identity. For example, the Evangelist has no choice but to spend a lot of time passing turns to build up faith by spamming boons, which are the only cards they can play to get around their 2 card per turn limit. This leads to a lot of one attack, one defend, and then you just can't do anything or be punished, while other characters can just brick endlessly due to lack of heat or ammo. Monsters only need to play one card to get around their one attack per turn limit and they pop off from there, as most of those same cards also say attack and speed plus one. You end up in a lot of situations where you either take damage or discard more, and as far as I have seen, there are no discard synergies besides maybe healing a bit. It further doesn't help that you can only see one version of each character's deck in the tutorial, and afterwards characters can only be bought with real money/diamonds, which you get only 1 per mission/achievement. I can't see this game going anywhere as it is with $70 purchases and an impossible free-to-play grind in an obviously unfinished, unoptimized, untested game.”
“It's very well constructed but poorly optimized.”
“It runs slowly and the time for every animation is slow.”

The graphics of the game are generally praised for their beautiful artwork and unique comic book style, enhancing the overall experience for card game fans. While there are some bugs and placeholder sound effects, the visuals are considered top-notch and contribute positively to gameplay. Overall, players find the aesthetics appealing, despite some minor issues.
“Regardless, this is a very entertaining game with beautiful artwork & decent mechanics that card fans will enjoy.”
“I really like the graphics.”
“It has a decent look in terms of art style, but they definitely have some 'placeholder' sound effects (the voice 'pass' for one - there's no way they intend that to be the actual turn pass sound, surely).”
“Game definitely has its own style aesthetically.”
“The artwork of the cards makes everything easy to understand and follow without making you worry that you won't retain what you learn.”

The story aspect of the game is criticized for feeling repetitive and lacking depth, with players forced to experience the same narrative elements during each run without the option to skip. Additionally, the game is perceived as a cash grab, with monetization strategies that hinder character progression and enjoyment, leading to frustration with the overall experience. While there are unique enemies and a roguelike structure, the narrative fails to engage players meaningfully.
“In PvE, you can take on multiple missions against a decent roster of unique enemies in a roguelike system, acquiring cards, allies, and items while trying to take on powerful bosses.”
“The story unfolds as you progress, providing a consistent narrative experience that ties together the various missions and challenges.”
“You are forced through some story every time you run through, and it's the same stuff over and over with no way to skip or go fast.”
“Feels like a cash grab as is tbh with the flow of the game the lag the janky tutorial that only has a class version and no character version even though that is an option. I can't see this game going anywhere as it is with $70 purchases and an impossible free-to-play grind in an obviously unfinished, unoptimized, untested game.”

The monetization of the game has received mixed reviews, with some players feeling it resembles a cash grab due to high costs for character purchases and a challenging free-to-play grind. Others, however, describe it as player-friendly, suggesting that while there are monetization elements, they do not significantly detract from the overall experience. Overall, the game's monetization strategy appears to be a point of contention among users, with concerns about balance and accessibility.
“The monetization is very player-friendly as well.”
“I appreciate how the game offers plenty of free content without pushing for purchases.”
“The in-game purchases are optional and don't hinder the overall experience.”
“Feels like a cash grab with the flow of the game, the lag, and the janky tutorial that only has a class version and no character version, even though that is an option. The discard mechanic feels out of place, making certain characters feel better than others in terms of deck identity. This leads to a lot of one attack, one defend, and then you just can't do anything or be punished, while other characters can just keep playing endlessly. Additionally, characters can only be bought with real money or diamonds, which you earn at a very slow rate. I can't see this game going anywhere with $70 purchases and an impossible free-to-play grind in an obviously unfinished and untested game. I would definitely wait before putting money into it.”
“The monetization system is frustrating, as characters can only be unlocked with real money, and the grind for free-to-play players is nearly impossible. The game feels unfinished and unoptimized, making it hard to justify spending any money on it.”
“The monetization model is heavily skewed towards encouraging players to spend real money, with a very slow progression system for free players. This makes the game feel more like a cash grab than a balanced experience.”
