About
"Asemblance" is a single-player psychological horror simulation game with a compelling plot and striking visuals. Players find themselves trapped in a machine that simulates memories, with an AI voice as their only guide. As they try to escape, they face memories from a past that may not be their own, questioning their sanity and control. The game is inspired by The Twilight Zone, The X-Files, and Black Mirror and features a soundtrack by Seattle electronic artists Kid Smpl and Johnny Goss.

- story146 mentions Positive Neutral Negative
The story of Asemblance is often described as linear and vague, focusing on themes of loss and grief but lacking a satisfying narrative progression. While some players appreciate the atmospheric sci-fi elements and intriguing concepts, many criticize the storytelling for being poorly delivered, confusing, and requiring illogical leaps to piece together the plot. Overall, the game presents an interesting premise but fails to engage players fully, leaving them frustrated with its execution and limited interactivity.
“I enjoyed the game; the story seemed rather interesting, reading some of the notes, looking around, it was a positive experience.”
“The endings are not completely satisfying, but still, Asemblance manages to be a very intriguing and atmospheric sci-fi story.”
“The game may not have many environments to explore, but each one is carefully layered and crafted to allow the story to emerge at whatever pace you're able to keep up with.”
“Not only is the story uninteresting, poorly delivered, and just bland, the logical leaps required to unlock all the bits and pieces of it are just stupid.”
“Asemblance does a terrible job in trying to tell the story that it houses, and even reading the long, jargoned notes scattered around the office location does little to convey even the most minor of plot points.”
“As mentioned prior, the storytelling is atrocious, the locations are too few, the environments are plain, and the endings aren't worth the effort they require to unlock.”
Asemblance Review
The here and now of Asemblance leaves you with more questions than answers, and not in the way Nilo intended.
45%Asemblance Review
Asemblance delivers an intriguing narrative based around a time looping mechanic, and makes a lot out of very little. The game may not have many environments to explore, but each one is carefully layered and crafted to allow the story to emerge at whatever pace you're able to keep up with. It helps that the title has genuinely interesting – and, oftentimes, unnerving – ideas, which, when paired with the menacing music, makes for an engaging experience.
70%Asemblance Review - I Don't Get It
I believe that Asemblance caters to a very specific niche of gamers. If you love tearing apart a game and trying to figure out how every little secret and every item placement is relevant to the grand scheme of things and you really love a complicated ARG, then this is the game you need in your life. Everyone else will probably only be confused and frustrated.
