• “The soundtrack is an absolute jam, with my personal favorite track being 'Pane and Heartache'.”
• “The music in particular is what helps make this game even more insanely special; not only is each track incredibly unique, but the team's smart use of a dynamic soundtrack that changes through the levels just adds so much pizzazz to it.”
• “Audio mixing - I constantly found myself adjusting the sound settings because the sound effects and music really fight for your attention, it's hard to hear both at the same time and the default settings do not sound right (on headphones at least).”
• “I was really excited for this game and the music and art is absolute banger but the gameplay and level design choices even this early on were just simply not fun.”
• gameplay

• “The gameplay is tight, responsive, and fun, and the soundtrack and visuals create a bombastic and stylistic experience that I just love.”
• “It's filled to the brim with both charm and surreal-ness in its visuals and set pieces, it's got incredibly fun and challenging gameplay that continuously finds ways to keep each level and boss fight feeling fresh from the last, and it's got a superb soundtrack all throughout, just to name a handful of its strengths.”
• “The gameplay is easily the best part, every move flows into each other beautifully and makes traversing the 12 sprawling levels a joy.”
• “I was really excited for this game and the music and art is absolute banger but the gameplay and level design choices even this early on were just simply not fun.”
• “The gameplay can be fast, frantic, explosive, and enjoyable, but other times it can be frustrating, confusing, and annoying.”
• “This game has infuriatingly polarising level design, mediocre mechanics and awkward controls.”
• graphics
361 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics of "Antonblast" have been widely praised for their vibrant, chaotic, and nostalgic art style reminiscent of 90s cartoons, with many reviewers highlighting the game's stunning animations and attention to detail. The visuals are described as both expressive and engaging, contributing to a bombastic gameplay experience that is visually captivating, though some players noted that the chaotic nature can occasionally make it difficult to track the action. Overall, the game's graphics are considered a standout feature, enhancing its charm and appeal.

• “The graphics are beautifully animated and give off strong vibes of early 2000's cartoons that would constantly make you ask yourself, 'how did they get away with this?', all topped off with an incredibly funky soundtrack that made me stop playing multiple times just so I could listen to it.”
• “The art style is gorgeous and wonderfully silly, the humor is straight out of a 90s cartoon, the gameplay feels tight and satisfying, the music slaps you across the room, and it's quite challenging!”
• “The visuals are amazing, and there was no point in the game where the art was bad.”
• “Just to name a few of the issues I've encountered: graphical bug in the mini boss rooms where the black explosion graphic is put over the screen around where the floor is making it hard to see both Anton and the boss, casino chips falling through platforms, the lightning cloud enemies still striking you with lightning after defeating them, a massive difficulty spike in the 3rd boss, and the last fetch quest in the 11th level being bugged and making it impossible for me to complete the level and by proxy finish the game.”
• “The graphics are harsh, hard to make sense of, choppy and brash.”
• “While I love the graphics, sometimes so many things are happening at once that it can get too busy for you to keep track of your character, especially during boss fights: the dragon and diamond bosses being huge offenders there.”
• humor
284 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in the game is widely praised for its chaotic, cartoonish style reminiscent of 90s animations, featuring a mix of clever gags, absurd character interactions, and nostalgic references. • “The humor, while a little rare, is fantastic and perfectly reminiscent of cartoonish gags.”
• story
103 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story of the game is described as silly, simple, and humorous, featuring quirky characters like Anton and Annie, and a plot involving Satan's jealousy over Anton's redness. While some reviewers note its brevity, they appreciate the charm and comedic elements that enhance the overall experience, making it enjoyable and memorable. Overall, the narrative complements the fast-paced gameplay, contributing to the game's appeal without overshadowing it.

• “The story is simple because it doesn't need to be anything else, and it's damn funny too.”
• “Amazing story: Satan is angry that Anton is red so he steals all of your alcohol, and you, being the alcoholic demolitionist you are, travel right to Satan's doorstep to 1v1.”
• “The art, music, story, and comedy are all amazing; the team really nailed it with these aspects.”
• “The story is very silly and stupid, and I love it and I want more.”
• “The story is somewhat a ripoff of Banjo-Kazooie, with elements that feel unoriginal and derivative.”
• “What story?”
• replayability
48 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game boasts high replayability due to its unique level designs, numerous secrets, and multiple gameplay modes such as time trials and combo challenges. While many players appreciate the engaging mechanics and collectibles that encourage repeated play, some express frustration with the lengthy stages and the difficulty of remembering secrets, which can detract from the overall experience. Overall, the combination of charm, challenge, and variety makes it a highly recommended title for those seeking replay value.

• “Amazing graphics, great gameplay, and high replayability value make for an incredible game.”
• “Every level stands out among the rest, is meticulously designed to allow for both speedrunning and playing at your own pace, and has a ton of secrets and optional collectibles that increase the replay value for completion's sake.”
• “Definitely excited to tackle replaying the levels through time attack and combo chain, adds a lot of replayability!”
• “This, again, would not normally be a problem; encouraging replayability is fine and all, but the game kind of drags you through the stages so much that I really don't want to bother playing them again.”
• “However, long stages have a bit of an issue with replayability in that remembering everything you have to do is very tough. Blink-and-you'll-miss-it secrets and obstacles mean that if you miss a secret or die, you're going to have to go through all that again.”
• “The only problem I have is the replayability content being too hard (especially the time trials), but maybe that's because I suck.”
• grinding
25 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Players generally find the grinding aspect of the game to be tedious and frustrating, with long levels that can take excessive time to complete, often leading to a sense of burnout. While some enjoy the cathartic nature of the gameplay, many express a desire for shorter, more memorable levels instead of the drawn-out challenges that can feel repetitive and annoying. Additionally, unskippable cutscenes and the need to restart from earlier points after dying contribute to the overall feeling of tedium during the grinding process.

• “You'll need a second life for grinding.”
• “Sometimes it's something you can knock out in 1-3 tries, and others it's something that will eat 6+ hours of your time grinding out a single level.”
• “Each room is separate, which makes it feel like they're designed to be their own little things, but when you die you don't restart at the room, but at a few rooms before it, which just becomes tedious, and instead of honing your skills, you just stop trying at the rooms you did already beat, and you end up failing those over and over, and it just becomes a bit of a drag on the experience.”
• “Game is good, buy it, it's fun, but I also feel like I don't want to keep playing it because these issues make it feel tedious to do so.”
• character development
22 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Character development in the game is highly praised for its fantastic and unique character designs, which effectively showcase personalities and enhance player engagement. Reviewers note that the interactions between characters feel immersive, akin to watching a well-crafted episode, while the consistent art style and voice acting further enrich the experience. However, some critiques mention that despite the strong character design, the overall gameplay experience can suffer from visual noise and level design issues.

• “The character designs, personalities, and their interactions all come together to really make it feel like you're just watching an episode.”
• “- Character design and voice acting perfectly showcase who you're playing and dealing with.”
• “The character designs, personalities, and their interactions all come along to really make it feel like you're just watching an episode.”
• “The art style is good, and it's obvious that a lot of love and effort went into the graphics for every part of this game, from the levels to the boss fights to the character designs... the problem is that there is a lot of visual noise, to the point where it can be hard to tell what exactly I'm doing.”
• “Character designs are unique and original while still carrying a consistent style to them all.”
• optimization
19 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's optimization has received mixed feedback, with some users reporting minor bugs such as stuttering and issues with full-screen display, particularly on high-end PCs. While these performance hiccups are noted, they are generally not considered game-breaking, and players express confidence that future patches will address these issues. Overall, the game's impressive presentation and voice acting somewhat mitigate the optimization concerns.

• “The presentation is an incredible spectacle that checks all of the boxes for me, smooth but also sharp & impactful art & animation that's always a joy to look at, hilarious voice performances that will echo in your mind for who knows how long, a nigh-endlessly excellent soundtrack, & sound design that sells everything that's going on & brings it to the next level.”
• “Overall, a complete & utter masterpiece that everyone involved should be extremely proud of, y'all delivered nothing but peak performance!”
• “The voice acting and cutscene animation is as expressive and exaggerated as a Saturday night cartoon, with the main villain, Satan, and Gianni Matragrano's vocal performance for him being a highlight, and the levels carry a lot of that cartoony energy with them, with a lot of visual gags being sprinkled throughout.”
• “🔲 PC with i9 10900k + 2x RTX 3090 (poorly optimized game)”
• “Some tiny bugs here and there can occur; I've experienced mild stuttering to broken full-screen with the game only taking a quarter of my screen, fixed by a reboot, alongside some weird game interactions with gimmicks, but nothing game-breaking.”
• “A few other hiccups here and there with performance on cutscenes, but I'm sure those will get patched out soon enough.”

• “Fantastic game! I've been playing on the Steam Deck, and it runs great on it.”
• “The game runs great on the Steam Deck, and it can get challenging, so brace yourself.”

• “Outside of this, I think some levels (particularly the one with the monkeys) are still a bit undercooked in that they're a bit buggy.”
• “This is so buggy and not easy, don't get.”

• “The levels are unique and very fun; there is great atmosphere, fantastic music, and sound design.”
• “Tony Grayson (composer of Antonblast, as well as the Summitsphere's studio head) delivers melodies that ooze with atmosphere.”
• “Moving on, Tony Grayson's penchant for delivering melodies that ooze with atmosphere (the Slowroast Sewer level) is not to be taken lightly, as it can shift onto a dime towards the uncomfortable in levels such as the Pinball Mire, or to an epic confrontation such as in the aforementioned fight with Satan.”
• “While this does work well for the chaotic atmosphere the game aims to create, it is frustrating with some of the level abilities.”
