"Alteric" is a challenging 2D-platformer with bright minimalistic graphics and an atmospheric soundtrack. Players control a trapped piece of light energy, navigating through two interconnected parallel worlds filled with obstacles and dangerous bosses. The game aims to evoke a "Thomas Was Alone meets Dark Souls" experience, offering in-game achievements, trading cards, and cloud save support for a grueling yet rewarding journey.

- Alteric features a unique dimension-switching mechanic that adds depth to the gameplay, making it engaging and challenging.
- The game has a beautiful and minimalistic art style, complemented by a solid soundtrack that enhances the overall experience.
- Many players found the game to be a fun and rewarding challenge, with a good balance of difficulty that keeps them entertained.
- The controls are often described as slippery and unresponsive, making precise movements frustrating and leading to unfair deaths.
- Some levels lack proper checkpoints, forcing players to restart from the beginning after dying, which can be discouraging.
- The game suffers from issues with hit detection and visibility in the alternate dimension, leading to confusion and a reliance on trial and error.

The music in the game receives mixed reviews, with some players praising the engaging and beautiful soundtrack that enhances the atmosphere, while others find it repetitive and subpar. Overall, many agree that while the music is generally good, it may not be enough to elevate the experience for everyone, especially given the game's minimalistic design.
“Great gameplay, great music (mostly), and great visuals!”
“The atmosphere and the music is pretty great, the controls work well.”
“It's challenging without being frustrating, the graphics are simple but work really great and the music is perfect!”
“Music is awful and repetitive.”
“Very slippery controls for a minimalistic platformer; sounds and music are subpar, there are way better alternatives out there.”
“However, it does have a pretty solid soundtrack, yet somewhat limited.”
Alteric Review
Alteric fails to tick any of the boxes that make such a platformer fun. While a die-hard genre fan may be able to find some silver lining within its walls, this is a messy title that manages to ignore all of the stored wisdom of its peers, and become wholly annoying. Again, it does work, but what it leaves behind is an experience that refuses to use its best judgment, and just wants to be hard, without any substance to back it up.

50%Alteric Review
Alteric had the potential to be a good alternative to the difficult platforming genre. However, the various issues that rise up, from "sliding" off during intricate platforming sections, to respawning on top of a boss for another immediate death, can be very annoying. The skill that is normally required for traversing these difficult platformers goes out the window in Alteric, as the controls and level design work together to make things unfair instead of being challenging. The gravity - and plane - switching features are cool mechanics and it is a shame that they were hampered by the controls.
