- Outstanding level and mission design offering multiple approaches, varied global locations, and high replayability supported by excellent visuals, sound design, and voice acting.

- Inconsistent enemy AI and occasionally predictable or awkward NPC reactions can detract from immersion and challenge.

story
21 mentions Positive Neutral NegativeThe story is widely praised as a gripping, cinematic, and authentic James Bond origin tale featuring strong writing, a compelling, younger Bond, and memorable characters. It combines spy thriller elements with diverse mission approaches and immersive world-building, though some missions can feel linear and pacing occasionally drags. Overall, it offers a standout narrative experience that captures the franchise’s tone and is a must-play for genre fans.
“Gripping story that rivals the best Bond films, three gameplay pillars that complement each other perfectly, exceptional level design with genuine replayability, outstanding voice acting and a memorable cast, fantastic sound design and a perfectly deployed Bond soundtrack.”
“Its cinematic single-player campaign is remarkable, offering a gripping, quintessentially Bond story, packaged together with some of the best action-adventure set pieces I’ve ever experienced.”
“Excellent blend of stealth, espionage, and cinematic action, young Bond origin story works surprisingly well, strong performances across the cast, fantastic atmosphere and globe-trotting locations, social stealth mechanics feel authentically Bond, outstanding visual presentation on PC.”
“While the gameplay sandbox is more vast, it's noticeably less deep. In its effort to tell an anti-AI story, IOI has accidentally created a tale about how spies are always morally justified.”
“IO's Bond-iverse story shines, but not enough to compensate for the very familiar game around it.”
“Some missions become overly linear, stealth AI can occasionally feel inconsistent, and certain action sequences limit player freedom.”

007 First Light Review — In Service Of The Greater Good
IO Interactive's 007 First Light is easily the best Bond game we've seen. Rare's GoldenEye 007 was momentous when it launched, and it's stuck around the zeitgeist because it was a portal into Ian Fleming's world of shaken martinis and spy thrills we'd never seen before. What 007 First Light feels like is a playable, limited spy series that transports the player into a gripping and memorable espionage story.

You Only Respawn Twice IOI has crafted a new Bond for a new age with a thrilling campaign and likeable characters. However, the lack of replayability and failure to address certain aspects inherent to the character make what could be an exceptional outing merely great.
