The game's story is engaging and features a mix of a main narrative and various side storylines, with charming characters and a nefarious plot involving alien threats. However, the live-service structure limits access to the story mode, requiring online play and a grind for progression, which may frustrate casual players. While the first season offers a solid experience, the future of the story hinges on the balance and content of upcoming seasons.
“While expanding their headquarters and upgrading their arsenal, they'd uncover a nefarious plot and save the world from gigantic aliens.”
“Although only season 1 is out right now, there is a lot of gameplay to go through, different characters and their storylines, and you get a story that comes together at the end.”
“There is a big main story and some smaller storylines, but you should do them all, not only for the experience, but also for the story and to get more parts, for example.”
“Unfortunately, it fell prey to the live-service structure of so many games today, having locked its story mode entirely online.”
“Once the credits roll, there is a long grind ahead of you as you are tasked with playing through dozens of matches back to back in order to rank up and get the next unlock or story bit.”
“It's tough to tell whether or not this grind will pay off; it largely depends on whether 'season 2' (the next story patch with a yet to be determined release date) will be balanced around an assumption of completing the 'season 1' end game, or simply require a credits roll of season 1 to start playing.”

The gameplay features a rich layer of customization with unique crew, frame, and weapon combinations, alongside a mini base-building mechanic reminiscent of Fallout Shelter. While the core gameplay loop is enjoyable and easy to learn, it suffers from slow pacing, clunky controls, and excessive text, which can detract from the overall experience. Despite these issues, many players find the gameplay addictive and rewarding once they fully grasp its mechanics.

“The gameplay is very easy to learn and is incredibly fun and addicting.”
“The gameplay took me a bit to fully grasp, but once you understand it, it becomes more enjoyable.”

“It would need substantial rework of pretty much every gameplay element though.”
“Overall, I like it, but it's held back by clunkiness in regards to its UI and specific mechanics.”
