The gameplay in "Supraland" is characterized by a rich blend of innovative mechanics, engaging puzzles, and exploration elements that keep players invested throughout the experience. While many players appreciate the gradual introduction of new mechanics and the satisfying challenge of solving puzzles, some express frustration over unclear instructions and occasional jarring combat mechanics. Overall, the game is praised for its creativity and depth, making it a compelling choice for fans of puzzle-platformers and metroidvania-style gameplay.
“The puzzles are quite nice, the gameplay and the cuteness of the characters are also good, and the occasional cool easter eggs are fun as well.”
“The gameplay is engaging, the storyline entertaining, and I loved the grand adventure that required constant exploration and thinking outside the box.”
“The game has a very juvenile look and seemingly simplistic gameplay, but after a few minutes I got over that and found a really solid metroid-vania meets portal first person puzzle game that treats story like it just doesn't matter at all, with objectives like 'go get the thing!'”
“It's repulsive design, it's confusing mechanics, it's jarring place in the story - it stinks.”
“Useless/loreless mobs that spawn way too frequently and always get in the way of what you need to do to progress and sometimes the mechanics feel a little jank.”
“Only a couple of properly hair-pulling moments where you need to string together multiple unseen mechanics together slightly took the shine off for me.”

Supraland is a delight with a world that is brimming with secrets to discover. It is slightly too long and does have combat that feels largely superfluous, but the puzzles are consistently inventive and fun.

While there is clear potential in Supraland, the game suffers from an identity crisis. The whimsical setting and level design show potential, but the control problems, lack of direction in puzzles and odd narrative undertones make this a disappointing package. Look elsewhere for a more enjoyable game that will make one think outside of the (sand)box.
