It’s far from terrible, but a long way from excellent. A neat idea simply lacks any major pizazz to make it worth your time or money. Microtransactions: none
In Suicide Guy, you play as a man who dreams of preventing his own suicide. Navigate through surreal and strange levels, each containing unique puzzles and challenges. Use creative problem-solving and physics-based mechanics to help your character wake up and avoid a tragic fate.

The humor in the game is characterized by its wacky, offbeat style and absurd scenarios, often blending lightheartedness with darker themes, such as the concept of dying in various creative ways. Players appreciate the game's ability to evoke laughter through its unique puzzles and visual presentation, although some feel that the humor can diminish as the game progresses. Overall, it is described as a funny and entertaining experience, making it a worthwhile pick for those who enjoy quirky puzzle games.
“It’s all about the wacky, offbeat humor and mind-bending puzzles that’ll keep you hooked.”
“The humor is amazing; I laughed every level because of how ridiculous it was.”
“The subject may be heavy but the game handles it flawlessly, deaths are creative and with the visual style it feels like a roadrunner cartoon, something rather funny than morbid and dark.”

The graphics of the game are generally described as cartoonish and colorful, contributing to a fun atmosphere, though many reviewers note a lack of polish and occasional glitches. While the level design offers variety and distinct aesthetics, some players feel that the overall graphical quality is not on par with modern standards, leading to mixed feelings about its execution. Despite these shortcomings, the art style is appreciated for its charm, making it enjoyable for those who can overlook the technical issues.
“Each level offers a different aesthetic and constantly surprises players.”
“While obviously not a high budget game, the graphics have a nice, clean cartoony look to them and the game plays smoothly aside from the occasional glitch.”
“The concept is awesome, I like the graphics and the environment a lot.”
“I think it can be summed up by the fact that the graphics are cartoonish, but still something is missing here.”
“There are also graphic and lighting issues, janky climbing and jumping, and overall a lack of polish.”
“Even putting it on the lowest graphics settings and turning off camera effects wasn't enough, as some aspects ought to be tweaked to make it work (i.e. lowest graphics settings shouldn't just be textures, but it ought to lower the realism of fires too and get rid of sparks).”

The gameplay is characterized by a mix of creative mechanics and fun levels, but it suffers from clunky controls and buggy interactions that can frustrate players. While some find the puzzle elements engaging and the art style appealing, many reviewers note that the jump and climbing mechanics feel unrefined, leading to a less polished experience overall. Despite these issues, the game offers a decent amount of content and charm, making it a worthwhile pick during sales for those willing to overlook its flaws.
“Creative elements and game mechanics: each level of the game contains different mechanics and elements.”
“The gameplay on its own is very interesting and puzzle-like, where you have to really use your brains to figure out what to do and to time things properly, but there were so many things that made the gameplay better such as references to other media, varying aesthetics, etc.”
“From the art style to the gameplay, it's a 10/10 hit for myself.”
“It's almost a no, because the mechanics themselves are really not very polished.”
“Cool idea, but unfortunately the gameplay is clunky and doesn't work very well.”
“The characters jumping and ledge grab mechanics feel floaty and off, making it infuriating to make precise jumps and shoot over a narrow ledge you just pulled yourself up, and you will be frustrated often as too many of the puzzles rely heavily on these mechanics.”

The game's music features a varied soundtrack with different tunes for each level, enhancing the overall experience, though some players found the short looping tracks could become repetitive. Players appreciate the option to turn off the music via in-game radios, allowing for a customizable audio experience. While the sound design is generally well-received, some users noted that the music can be loud or annoying at times, but overall, it contributes positively to the game's atmosphere.
“The music is very nice, I want to play it a lot.”
“It got me hooked because every level is different; these are all dreams, every level plays differently, looks unique, has a different soundtrack, unique objects,...”
“By the way, I really liked the soundtrack. Most of it is short looping tracks that get annoying after a while, but since the levels are not very long, it ended up only bothering me when I got stuck; otherwise, I enjoyed it a lot.”
“Pacing is slow, puzzles are uninspired, and even the music is annoying.”
“The sound effects are okay considering the quality of everything else, with the soundtrack not having too many musical tunes, but since every song comes out of a radio that is literally next to you in each level, you can turn it off or change it to something else in some instances.”

The game's story is a mix of humor and morbidity, revolving around a character's wild dream quest to wake up and save his beer, with each level presenting unique challenges and themes. While some players appreciate the lighthearted and funny narrative, others note that it lacks depth and cohesion, feeling more like a collection of memes than a traditional storyline. Overall, the story is entertaining and complements the gameplay, despite its simplicity.
“It's a pretty typical 3D first-person puzzle platformer like Quantum Conundrum, Portal, Antichamber, etc. What makes this game great is the morbidity being packaged in such a silly concept for a story that makes it pretty lighthearted and funny (while sometimes also uncomfortable... such as being forced to crush yourself under a stone column... youch).”
“The story and cutscenes are well made; from what I understand, in the end, the only objective to accomplish is killing the character in all the levels and then being able to wake up to save the bear.”
“The story isn't the deepest, but it gets points for subverting expectations and not being a cliché.”
“There is no story, as each level has its own theme and nothing ties them together. The main pretext behind ending up in the level selection fast food place is that the suicide guy character only cares about hamburgers and beer, and the whole point of finishing the entire game is so that he can catch his beer before it falls down when he wakes up.”
“This game is just a meme; there isn't much of a story, and you just basically mess around with objects.”
“The story and cutscenes are well made, but from what I understand, the only objective to accomplish is killing the character in all the levels and then being able to wake up to save the beer.”

The game suffers from significant stability issues, including frequent bugs, glitches, and inconsistent physics that can disrupt gameplay. Players report problems such as items clipping through walls, disappearing objects, and unresponsive controls, which detract from the overall experience. While some find the glitches to be a minor nuisance or part of the game's charm, many hope for fixes to enhance stability and enjoyment.
“It is buggy; items are constantly clipping through the walls, puzzles sometimes don't make any sense, and you never know what you can climb or not because the game is inconsistent in its own rules. Physics sometimes works, sometimes not.”
“Including two complete system freezes where I had to reset, and the other two where the GPU just hung completely.”
“There are also quite a few glitches that I have encountered, from getting stuck in a place unable to move, to items disappearing in the floor or behind objects and not being able to retrieve them anymore, and a very weird camera glitch that I've encountered multiple times during those vehicle sections.”

The game's optimization has received significant criticism, with players noting poor performance despite its simple, cartoony design. Many have reported needing to lower graphics settings to achieve playable frame rates, while controls for mouse and keyboard are considered well-optimized. Overall, the optimization issues detract from the experience, leading to a negative reception.
“Controls with mouse and keyboard are well optimized even though there are a lot of actions to do.”
“I haven't seen such a bad optimization in such a simple game yet.”
“Great suicide sim, never seen one on Steam, only problems I had were with performance; I had to remove the camera effects and quality in order to make it run.”
“Simple, cartoony but surprisingly demanding on the performance.”

Overall, the game has been criticized for its low replayability, with many reviewers noting that once completed, there is little incentive to return, aside from collecting hidden items. While some fun can be found in the initial playthrough, the lack of engaging mechanics or tighter controls diminishes the likelihood of players wanting to revisit the game.
“The controls could be tighter, and the replay value is probably not going to be that high, but there is definitely fun to be had here.”
“As another reviewer has already stated, this game has almost zero replayability, minus collecting all the 'hidden' statues in each level.”
“However, this game has no replayability, so if you hope to get days of enjoyment out of this game, I would not recommend purchasing it.”
“All that being said, there's no replay value as I'd be surprised anyone could tolerate a return trip through the levels; that is if they bother finishing the game at all.”

“Player movement is tedious and schizophrenic.”

A drink to die for --- Suicide Guy review
In the end, Suicide Guy is a surprisingly goofy romp through the dreams of a typical slob. The story isn't the deepest, but it gets points for subverting expectations and not being a cliche. The variety of level designs and clever methods of completion are refreshing. It provides a fun little challenge without becoming a chore.

There's fun to be had in Suicide Guy. There's a nice variety of situations and environments and exploring each stage can be a blast. The technical problems are what ultimately drag Suicide Guy down. Still, if you can get past the bugs and glitches, there's a nifty little puzzle game waiting for you on the eShop.
