Still Joking
Still Joking had a lot of potential in its plot, but the 400,000 words did little to introduce us to it and bring it to life, settling instead for short, inorganic quips, rushed ideas, and clichés.

The game's story is praised for its depth, character development, and branching narratives that allow player choices to significantly impact the outcome. However, some players found the ending unsatisfactory and noted that certain plot elements felt underdeveloped or overly simplistic. Overall, the narrative combines themes of love, self-discovery, and mystery, set against a visually stunning backdrop, making it a compelling experience despite some pacing and dialogue issues.
“Very well-written characters and a great story.”
“Your choices do actually matter.. a lot.. and the story branches off based on even the seemingly insignificant ones you made.”
“Amazing and lengthy story of what happens to your reflection after your physical body dies.”
“But the ending completely smothered all experience from the story.”
“In addition, the story is basically toothless, evading all triggering story parts.”
“But the dialogues are nonsense at times (maybe the writer's native language is not English, but then, you need a co-writer or editor) and I had to scroll back a lot because I lost the context or the plot of the discussion between the characters.”
Still Joking Review (PC)
Still Joking is an interactive novel experience with a good cast and a great protagonist. Iris is bewildered and fiery, determined to find out what happened to her real-world counterpart while also finding the best way to move past her trauma. The game’s writing works well with the theme, although there are conversations that feel much too long. The developers claim that there are more than 1,000 unique choices to make, so there’s a ton of space for multiple playthroughs. Sure, gameplay is as limited. The game has style, but immersion is negatively affected by the limited sound design. The entire experience is designed for players who already know and appreciate this genre. Still Joking does not innovate much but executes on its premise well and takes players through some wild narrative moments. Review key provided by the developer.
