    10 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay of the game has been criticized for being simplistic and non-unique, with many reviewers noting that it features easily exploitable mechanics that detract from the overall experience. While some appreciate its strategic elements and visual appeal, the consensus suggests that the gameplay does not justify its price, especially when compared to better free alternatives.

    • “If you were to think about buying this game, it would probably only be due to its strategic gameplay.”
    • “Even if all of those issues were out of the way, I could only imagine myself recommending this game if you absolutely want to play this game for its unique mechanics, as I personally haven't seen any turn-based strategy games quite like this.”
    • “Visually pleasing with simple but engaging gameplay, Skylight offers the promise of a well-polished space-themed tactics game.”
    • “Other than those above that are VR related, I do have some issues with the gameplay itself.”
    • “- Simplistic gameplay, non-unique gameplay.”
    • “Still, $15 is such a high price to ask for considering the broken and easily exploitable mechanics and the fact that you can get a lot better games out there for free.”

    4 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics in the game receive mixed feedback; while some users appreciate the nice visuals for environments and combat, others criticize them as reminiscent of early 90s designs. The stylishly detailed vectoresque graphics stand out positively, but the overall graphical experience is seen as lacking depth and options.

    • “The game offers nice visuals for the environments and combat.”
    • “Music, sound, and stylishly detailed vectoresque graphics are fantastic.”
    • “While I did not give this game a glowing review, I still feel it is not bad. However, I found the options slim; for example, there is no way to quit the game, the music was lame (more tracks would have been a bonus), and the graphics were very early 90s.”
  • story
    3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story initially appears engaging and clever, but quickly reveals itself to be simplistic and repetitive, leading to a lack of depth in gameplay. Players can complete the game in about four hours using a single strategy across various missions, which diminishes the overall narrative experience. Despite multiple campaigns and ship choices, the story fails to provide a compelling or challenging journey.

    • “Lots of missions to play through several campaigns and choose carefully from a variety of ships to counter the enemy fleet.”
    • “It looks good at first glance and can make you believe it's clever in the first few missions, but you quickly realize that there is nothing clever or good about it.”
    • “I played this title from beginning to end in 4 hours and used a single tactic throughout most of the game to win each and every mission without fail.”
    • “The story lacks depth and fails to engage the player, making the missions feel repetitive and uninspired.”
  • music
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music in the game received mixed reviews; some players found it lacking and repetitive, wishing for more tracks, while others praised it as fantastic and well-integrated with the game's overall aesthetic.

    • “While I did not give this game a glowing review, I still feel it is not bad. However, I found the options slim; for example, there is no way to quit the game, the music was lame (more tracks would have been a bonus), and the graphics were very early 90s.”
