    174 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in this game is widely praised, with players highlighting its ability to generate laughter, especially when played with friends. Many reviews mention the hilarity of the prop mechanics, chaotic gameplay, and unexpected moments that arise during matches, making it a fun and entertaining experience despite some bugs and balance issues. Overall, the game is considered a great source of comedic enjoyment, particularly in social settings.

    • “This game is hilarious!”
    • “My best friend recommended it to me and we both just couldn't stop laughing the whole time!”
    • “The interactions between the props and hunters, along with the occasional hilarious situations that arise from the disguises, create a fun and social experience that keeps players coming back for more.”
  • gameplay
    90 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay of "Prop and Seek" is generally described as entertaining and straightforward, making it accessible for players, especially in multiplayer settings with friends. However, many reviews criticize the heavy presence of pay-to-win mechanics and bugs that detract from the overall experience, leading to frustration and a lack of balance. While the core mechanics are fun and reminiscent of classic prop hunt games, the implementation of microtransactions and random prop selection has drawn significant criticism, overshadowing the game's potential.

    • “The gameplay mechanics are straightforward, allowing players to jump right into the action without a steep learning curve.”
    • “With its creative gameplay, colorful visuals, and engaging multiplayer dynamics, 'prop and seek' offers a fun and casual gaming experience for players looking to enjoy some lighthearted and competitive hide-and-seek action.”
    • “The props themselves are pretty decent with the odd few hilariously massive props which are always fun to get as it's quite fun to run around as a massive gate twice the size of the map. This game offers a different mechanic to most traditional prop hunt games and that is the RNG roll for a prop which I find quite fun as it adds to the fun of struggling to find a good hiding spot with a prop that you have no control over choosing.”
    • “The game is pay-to-win, with many features that can only be accessed after 1000+ hours of gameplay or through bronze coins, which is a currency in the game.”
    • “A prop hunt game with minimal effort, pay-to-win mechanics, and really bad game design.”
    • “The gameplay is terrible; if you want a good prop hunt game, just get Garry's Mod and you won't have to buy microtransactions to get the props you want.”
  • stability
    68 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game is widely criticized for its instability, with numerous reports of bugs, glitches, and performance issues such as low frame rates and crashes. While some players find the chaotic nature of these bugs adds to the fun, many express frustration over the game's pay-to-win mechanics and the prevalence of cheaters. Overall, despite being in alpha and showing potential, the game's current state is described as a "buggy mess" that can detract from the overall experience.

    • “Insect type only – bug free.”
    • “Yoooo, so fun, and no glitches.”
    • “The game is extremely buggy.”
    • “It's good for a few rounds of laughs if you have a group to play it with, but in its current state it's a buggy mess.”
    • “Very annoying laggy for host, bad map designs, and frequent glitches.”
  • graphics
    56 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The graphics of the game receive mixed reviews, with many players noting a colorful and cartoonish art style that suits its light-hearted gameplay. However, numerous complaints highlight poor optimization, lag, and technical issues that detract from the overall experience, leading to frustration among users. While some appreciate the visuals, others find them subpar and in need of significant improvement, especially given the game's high resource demands.

    • “The game's colorful and cartoonish art style adds to its light-hearted and enjoyable atmosphere.”
    • “The visuals are well-suited to the game's playful concept, making it an inviting experience for players of all ages.”
    • “Great game, good graphics as well.”
    • “The graphics look blurry.”
    • “The optimization is bad and the game runs pretty poorly for what the graphics are.”
    • “The graphics were also an eyesore since it looked like something that would come out of an Unreal Engine game poorly attempting to make use of Unreal shaders, kind of like Outer Worlds.”
  • monetization
    32 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The monetization in this game has been widely criticized as predatory and excessive, with numerous microtransactions that many players feel are necessary to enjoy the game fully. While the game is free to play, the in-game purchases are seen as a blatant cash grab, often locking essential features behind paywalls and creating an unbalanced experience. Overall, the monetization strategy detracts significantly from the gameplay, leading to frustration among users.

    • “For the game being free, it's quite good, but there's a good chunk of microtransactions.”
    • “Free game with in-game purchases that aren't necessary to have a great time.”
    • “While fun, a lot of baseline game features are locked behind an in-game purchase.”
    • “Blatantly a cash grab.”
    • “But man this game has some of the worst monetization I've seen in years, and it's what kills it for me.”
    • “Here's the thing: the entire game is a blatant ripoff of a player-designed game from Garry's Mod, but with a horrific layer of predatory microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics.”
  • story
    30 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The reviews indicate that the game lacks a significant narrative, with many users stating there is "no story" or that it primarily focuses on gameplay rather than storytelling. A few comments suggest that the game is enjoyable despite the absence of a traditional story, likening it to casual games like "Flappy Bird" or "Candy Crush." Overall, the consensus is that the game prioritizes gameplay mechanics over a developed storyline.

    • “Incredible game, great story and characters.”
    • “ epic story”
    • “ epic story”
    • “☑ no story”
    • “ this game has no story”
    • “☐ only gameplay, doesn't include a story.”
  • optimization
    24 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's optimization is widely criticized, with players reporting numerous technical issues such as severe bugs, significant frame rate drops, and inconsistent graphics settings. Many reviewers compare its performance unfavorably to older games, highlighting problems like memory leaks and unresponsive controls. Overall, the game is seen as poorly optimized, detracting from the fun and gameplay experience.

    • “Fun game to be played, needs improvement on performance.”
    • “Needs a lot of improvement especially on the optimization.”
    • “All of the issues with the game are results of the game being in alpha and I expect them to be worked out later, such as camera movements, general optimizations, prop sizes, etc.”
    • “Prop hunt, really badly implemented from a technical side full of bugs that heavily impact the experience. I think I wouldn't lie if I say that 2010 GMod servers had better execution of this. Currently, you are constantly getting: peek camera stuck in place, unable to move as a prop after freeze and unfreeze, random objects on the map (not props) intensively stuttering, graphics settings not saving/changing on their own, 40% framerate drops on large maps, nicknames for all players disappearing in chat/menu/killcam/logs (everywhere), and there's a strange system where you can't join any server you want but only one that matches your selected region. If it doesn't, you need to log off from the game and change the region on the login screen. It's also having all kinds of pay-to-win/convenience starting from things like XP boosters, name changes, prop slots (what prop you get is random, but it's executed in a way that you have slots to choose randomly rolled props from, 1 by default, you can buy a 2nd slot for $20 permanently and a 3rd for a limited time about $1/day), all the way to stronger hunter's equipment, prop speed/jump boost, hunter power-ups, and paid ability to vote kick.”
    • “The optimization is bad and the game runs pretty poorly for what the graphics are.”
    • “Game has massive issues with performance, constant memory leaks and crashing. It looks like Half-Life 2 but takes 80% usage of my GTX 1080.”
  • grinding
    10 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The grinding aspect of the game is widely criticized, with many players finding it excessively tedious and lacking in rewards. Several reviews suggest that the experience is so demanding that it feels like players would need a "second life" to keep up, leading to a general recommendation to seek out other games in the genre.

    • “It's a bit grindy at times, but it adds to the overall experience.”
    • “Grinding can feel like a long, tedious process, yet it offers a sense of accomplishment.”
    • “You'll need a second life for grinding, but the rewards make it worthwhile.”
    • “Yeah, don't bother with this one, try other prop hunt games (such as Run Prop, Run!). This is just ridden with pay-to-win mechanics, and the experience gaining is so tedious with no rewards whatsoever.”
    • “You'll need a second life for grinding.”
    • “One long, tedious grind.”
