Shoot with a pistol, fire a laser, blast bombs, swing a sword, ram with a shield, and defend with an aura. Six completely different weapons, all available almost simultaneously. But you can't just "pew-pew" your way through - temporary buffs and enemy combinations force you to choose what to use and when
