It would be easy, but incorrect, to dismiss Deep Sky Derelicts from Snowhound Games as a Darkest Dungeon clone.
Deep Sky Derelicts is a strategic, turn-based RPG set in a grim, dieselpunk universe. Scavenge for resources, explore derelict spaceships, and engage in tactical combat with pirates and factions. Manage your crew, equip them with upgrades, and level up their skills to survive in this unforgiving, procedurally generated world.

Deep Sky Derelicts Review
Great ideas and some outright fun is far too often marred by technical glitches, a maddening GUI, and simply overwhelming amounts of numbers and terms with very little information as to what any of it does. The originality of the game is cool but there are too many ideas were packed in without actually making sure they all work together coherently.

Deep Sky Derelicts: Definitive Edition offers an accessible and enjoyable take on the deck-building dungeon-crawling genre, with the fun combat and slick presentation helping it stand out in the crowd. It’s just a shame that its explorative mechanics felt a little lacking, with the grid-based maps just feeling bland in design and growing repetitive to explore. Still, the game is a good starting point for those new to the card-orientated combat mechanics of the game, whilst deck-building veterans will find plenty of depth too. It might have some imperfections, but Deep Sky Derelicts: Definitive Edition is certainly a solid release in the genre.

Deep Sky Derelicts is a decent little adventure that cares more about the journey than the destination. The problems are enough to keep me from loving it, but the combat is addictive and the exploration, while annoyingly simple, rewarding. If you’re a fan of roguelikes, dungeon crawlers, or sci-fi RPGs, it’s worth checking out.
