Warcraft III: Reforged
Reforged is an uninspiring remaster, but Warcraft 3 itself is still a great game nearly two decades later.

graphics
5 mentions Positive Neutral NegativeThe graphics of the game have received mixed reviews, with many praising the detailed new visuals and updated UI while also noting the retention of some original elements. However, there are significant criticisms regarding technical issues, such as graphical glitches and frame rate drops, as well as disappointment over the removal of certain features and the inability to switch between old and new graphics seamlessly. Overall, while the art style and character models are appreciated, the execution of the remaster has left some players wanting more.
“Great graphics and art style, UI got properly updated, but retains the exact same general positioning.”
“Serviceable visuals, great character models, simpler, cleaner UI, decent animations overall.”
“Preserves the best parts of the original game, added accessibility in campaign, custom maps still shine, detailed new visuals.”
“The removal of several multiplayer modes and features, along with the inability to change on the fly between old and new graphics, makes it feel like more could have been done with the 'update' part of the remastering.”
“Missing features from the original reforged vision are disappointing. There are far too many technical issues, such as graphical glitches, micro-stuttering, and drops in frame rate. Linking reforged with the original game has meant that the 2002 version has inherited its problems, which has also made many custom maps unplayable.”
A mediocre remaster
“Warcraft III: Reforged is a much-needed remaster that's not quite complete.”
60%Warcraft III: Reforged Review
The heavy criticism towards Warcraft III: Reforged has nothing to do with the quality of the experience therein. This remains the wonderful real-time strategy that thousands of people have loved. The real problems begin when you take the changes of this remaster into consideration. The half-baked, unimpressive new engine and hit-or-miss design choices; the numerous bugs and network issues; and, finally, those mind-numbing, corporate-smelling decisions, like the fact that custom maps now belong to Blizzard, or how Reforged effectively ruins the original for those who don't even own the new game.
