The gameplay experience is marred by significant bugs and inconsistencies, particularly in movement mechanics and UI, leading to a frustrating experience for players. While the building system shows potential, it requires extensive grinding and lacks optimization, resulting in repetitive gameplay after 12-24 hours. Although some players find the game entertaining and promising, many feel it needs substantial improvements and new content to enhance overall enjoyment.
“It's building system can take a bit of grinding and the controls used to be better; there are many small things and optimizations that can make this game's building and gameplay in general so much better. If you're wondering what this game is most similar to currently, it's Reassembly (minus the factory).”
“Still needs to add a lot of new gameplay; however, it's a very good game considering its price and where it is at now.”
“Crude stuff, found massive bugs of multiple categories (gameplay, world consistency, UI) within the first hour.”
“New modules, weapons, and gameplay elements go in virtually untested.”
“Looks promising but not enjoyable yet and very rough, both in terms of UI and gameplay.”

The game suffers from various performance issues and minor bugs that hinder gameplay, such as a malfunctioning jump drive and ineffective combat mechanics. Players note that while the game has potential, significant optimizations are needed, particularly in the building system, AI behavior, and mining scripts, to enhance overall performance and user experience.
“There are some performance problems and small bugs, but nothing game-breaking.”

“Mining script should be optimized, causes minor lag.”

“The game is okay and has a lot to do, but a couple of bugs could be fixed. The jump drive block is useless at this current time and doesn't work when you have the fuel for it, so you're forced to use the jump gates. After playing for some time, your turrets and perks that affect your ship's combat performance, such as nukes, bombs, and the charging lasers, stop working. So when you jump into a new zone, you're pretty much a sitting duck as other ships turn your tank of a ship into a flying block of scrap. Also, the AI is very derpy and has a habit of flying into me and telling me to stop hitting them when clearly it's them. After that, they start turning on me, which then turns into a battlefield.”
“Mining script should be optimized; it causes minor lag.”

The game's stability is a significant concern, with users reporting frequent bugs and glitches that can disrupt gameplay, including skills failing to work and occasional freezes. While some players acknowledge that it is in early access and are willing to overlook these issues for now, many recommend waiting for fixes before fully engaging with the game.
“I cannot recommend this game until game-breaking glitches like this are fixed.”
“The AI can seem a little buggy sometimes, and it seems like skills stop working every now and then.”
“Tutorial works fine, but it freezes for about 10 seconds three or four times when you first enter the galaxy.”

Players find the grinding in the game to be excessively slow and difficult, making it feel nearly unplayable for some. While the game has improved in performance, the grind for credits and building resources remains a significant drawback, overshadowing its positive aspects like combat and art style. Overall, the consensus is that the grinding experience detracts from the enjoyment of the game.
“Really slow and difficult grinding just to get credits.”
“Relatively unplayable, and extremely grindy currently.”
“But, at the same time, it's been six months, the game at its current state, as others say, is mainly unplayable due to how grindy it is.”

The story aspect of the game is criticized for its lack of content, with no missions or quests available, leading to a repetitive experience of being attacked by pirates, even in supposedly safe areas. Additionally, early quests are frustratingly distant, detracting from the overall narrative engagement.
“There is a total lack of content (no missions or quests to accomplish at all), and you are constantly being attacked by pirates no matter where you are, even in 'safe sectors' with stations.”
“But early 'easy' quests are many sectors away.”
