The gameplay has received mixed reviews, with players noting significant bugs and inconsistencies that detract from the experience. While the building system shows potential, it requires grinding and lacks optimization, leading to repetitive gameplay after 12-24 hours. Additionally, the skill tree appears ineffective, and overall, the game feels rough and unpolished, though some players see promise in its future development.
“It's building system can take a bit of grinding and the controls used to be better; there are many small things and optimizations that can make this game's building and gameplay in general so much better. If you're wondering what this game is most similar to currently, it's Reassembly (minus the factory).”
“Still needs to add a lot of new gameplay; however, it's a very good game considering its price and where it is at now.”
“Crude stuff, found massive bugs of multiple categories (gameplay, world consistency, UI) within the first hour.”
“New modules, weapons, and gameplay elements go in virtually untested.”
“Looks promising but not enjoyable yet and very rough, both in terms of UI and gameplay.”

The game suffers from various performance issues and minor bugs that hinder gameplay, though none are game-breaking. Players have noted that the building system and controls require further optimization, and specific features like the jump drive and combat mechanics are currently ineffective. Overall, significant improvements in optimization are necessary to enhance the gaming experience.
“There are some performance problems and small bugs, but nothing game breaking.”
“Mining script should be optimized, causes minor lag.”

“The game is okay and has a lot to do, but a couple of bugs could be fixed. The jump drive block is useless at this current time and doesn't work when you have the fuel for it, so you're forced to use the jump gates. After playing for some time, your turrets and perks that affect your ship's combat performance, such as nukes, bombs, and the charging lasers, stop working. So when you jump into a new zone, you're pretty much a sitting duck as other ships turn your tank of a ship into a flying block of scrap. Also, the AI is very derpy and has a habit of flying into me and telling me to stop hitting them when clearly it's them. After that, they start turning on me, which then turns into a battlefield.”
“Mining script should be optimized; it causes minor lag.”

“Tutorial works fine, but it freezes for about 10 seconds three or four times when you first enter the galaxy.”

Players consistently find the grinding in the game to be excessively slow and difficult, making it feel nearly unplayable for some. While there are positive aspects like improved performance and enjoyable gameplay, the overwhelming grind for credits and resources detracts significantly from the overall experience.
“Really slow and difficult grinding just to get credits.”
“Relatively unplayable, and extremely grindy currently.”
“But, at the same time, it's been six months; the game at its current state, as others say, is mainly unplayable due to how grindy it is.”

Players find early quests frustratingly distant, detracting from overall engagement with the narrative.
“There is a total lack of content (no missions or quests to accomplish at all), and you are constantly being attacked by pirates no matter where you are, even in 'safe sectors' with stations.”
“But early 'easy' quests are many sectors away.”
