Most players completed the main storyline in about 4-6 hours, finding it repetitive and lacking the rich humor and character interactions that defined earlier games like "The Stick of Truth" and "The Fractured But Whole." While some appreciated the continuation of the South Park narrative and humor, many felt the game fell short in terms of engaging storytelling and content, leading to a sense of disappointment among fans.
“The story is funny, a continuation of the new kid's adventures with Stan, Kyle, Cartman, Kenny, and Butters.”
“The story itself is good, but I don't feel like I'm a part of South Park.”
“The story is great like all South Park games except this game so far feels different but in a good way.”
“The storyline is rushed and not well thought out, which I don't even think is necessarily due to the game being short either.”
“The story is extremely short, maybe like 4 hours long at best, and the ending sucked. I definitely wouldn't buy it at full price.”
“The story is bland and not nearly as creative as all of their other projects.”

The gameplay of "South Park: Snow Day" has received mixed to negative feedback, with many players finding it repetitive, simplistic, and lacking depth compared to its predecessors. While some appreciate the humor and cooperative elements, others criticize the clunky mechanics, limited weapon variety, and a short overall playtime of around 4-6 hours, leading to a sense of underwhelming value for the price. Overall, the game struggles to deliver an engaging experience, often feeling like a shallow hack-and-slash rather than a true continuation of the series' rich narrative and gameplay legacy.
“Every level ends with a different boss, each having their own fighting mechanics.”
“The gameplay is pretty solid, nothing that will compete with melee and such from games like The Witcher, but it still provides a good challenge and offers a fair bit of choice in how you want to play.”
“The gameplay is fun but far too basic to really be replayable.”
“The gameplay is hollow and unresponsive; you have to stand still for the ability to work, which is impossible when there are hundreds of enemies in the way.”
“The gameplay is awful, with the only redeeming quality being the card leveling system.”
“The gameplay is repetitive and a surprising lack of depth; this is what I would expect from a $20 indie game, and the story (or lack thereof) feels like an insult to the franchise.”

“The humor is great.”
“It was absolutely hilarious and clever.”
“The humor is all there and it's playing through a nice long episode just like some of the previous South Park games that Ubisoft made.”
“Underwhelming, disappointing, unfunny, and boring.”
“For South Park, the jokes are very few and when they are present, they are usually unfunny, not worth your money.”
“The story is awful and the jokes are not funny, which is surprising because it's South Park.”

Overall, the graphics are seen as a highlight for some, but a disappointment for others, particularly in terms of how they translate the show's unique style into a 3D environment.
“I enjoyed the graphics and 3D aspect, regardless that it’s not in line with the South Park look.”
“The graphics are lovely and you can immerse yourself quite well in it.”
“Graphics are amazing; simply not enough levels to beat the game in under 5 hours.”
“Personally, I think the art style feels like a cheap Unity asset flip—it looks amateurish and lacks polish.”
“It’s hard to take the game seriously with visuals this horrible; no idea what the devs were thinking when designing it.”
“The graphics are ugly, the gameplay is shallow, the story is minimal/lacking, and the level design is lazy.”

“This is a game that has replayability; there are different combo loadouts to experiment with.”
“The game holds loads of replay value, trying to unlock more content, either character progression or cosmetics/emotes.”
“The replayability is a key aspect and even something the developers brought up, yet it’s so obnoxiously grueling and repetitive that it makes that 'feature' more or less nonexistent.”
“For a game meant for replayability, there isn't much to go back around for after beating the campaign.”
“There's zero replayability or reason to replay it at all; it's difficult to get anything done, and it's just... cheesy.”

The music in the game receives mixed reviews, with some praising its catchy and fitting soundtrack that enhances the overall experience, while others find it repetitive or annoying, particularly during combat. Overall, while the soundtrack is generally considered decent, it lacks the memorability of previous titles in the series.
“The soundtrack slaps super hard too.”
“Man, the soundtrack is incredible (this game may not be as good as the last two but it's still solid so 7/10).”
“These boss fights deliver mechanical depth, challenge, humor, and spectacle, and each combines with Snow Day’s above-average soundtrack to make for a memorable end to each mission.”
“I have had to restart missions multiple times because I am in 'combat' with no one, the music just plays and the bots hit the most ridiculous dance moves ever.”
“The entire time all you hear is one-liner dialogue being clipped off by combat, generic combat music, and honestly some grossly unbalanced weapon sounds.”
“The last level music is hella annoying and I ended up muting it completely.”

Many reviewers noted that the limited content and repetitive nature of the gameplay detract significantly from the overall experience.
“It's pretty fun for hack-and-slash game enjoyers, not grindy at all, and I enjoyed the multiplayer aspect they introduced.”
“You get 3 melee weapons, 3 ranged, 6 power-ups and can only bring 1 melee, 1 ranged, and 2 power-ups, plus it's a repetitive grinding mess of a game that is good but just barely on that status.”
“Combat is insanely tedious and repetitive with waves upon waves of enemies that, while having some variation, don't really feel different, as the combat is far too limited for the differences to really matter.”
“Overall there is about 10 hours of good gameplay in this game, and 10 hours of grinding for the achievements and cosmetics.”

“+ The game runs great without a single problem.”
“It's hard to fathom how a game with so many glitches has DLC.”
“The main problem is glitches; this game needs a serious patch.”
“Very buggy mid graphics and just a sucky story. If you really wanted to beat the game, it might take 1.5 hours for the story, but the glitches and crashes forced it to take longer and just got boring with the dull story and buggy AI on both teams. It just felt slow, repetitive, and very trashy.”

Overall, the game is praised for its strong optimization, delivering stable performance with high frame rates even on mid-range hardware. Users report minimal bugs and smooth gameplay, although some mention occasional audio issues. Despite concerns about future updates due to poor sales, the current optimization allows for a visually vibrant experience without significant performance drawbacks.
“Encountered very minimal bugs and performance-wise, it plays really well.”
“The game is very well optimized in my opinion, although I am running an RTX 3080 Ti and a Ryzen 9 5950X, but a lot of newer games just feel clunky and unoptimized in terms of frame rate and pop-in.”
“Due to the poor sales performance, I really doubt this gets a whole lot of updates, but who knows.”
“I haven't had any performance issues so far, but I will say that the audio is weird sometimes.”
“But if you crank up the quality to ultra (and the game is optimized enough that you can do it even on a mid-to-low-end card like the RX 6600), it's got a lot of lighting effects that make the game look a lot more vibrant than it should.”

“It has quality gameplay, fun map design, interesting and fun character development systems, good voice acting and humor you expect from the series.”
“Worst one by far had great potential and was ruined by it being bland and stale. The old ones had side story quests and collectibles, but this game does offer better combat. We need character development as well; we need a class and everything.”
“Why remove all the humor, story, character development, and fun?”
“Worst one by far had great potential and was ruined by it being bland and stale. The old ones had side story quests and collectibles, but this game offers better combat. The story and the overall bite were dissatisfying. We need character development as well; we need a class and everything.”

repetitive action makes for a co-op stinker
“South Park: Snow Day! flushes a nostalgic multiplayer premise down the toilet.”
30%South Park: Snow Day [PlayStation 5] | REVIEW
South Park: Snow Day isn’t the best co-op hack ‘n slash PvE that you’ll play, but it’s still fun and captures the anarchic humour of the TV show PERFECTLY. I just wish it had a few more levels, more varied locales, and the combat was a bit more fine-tuned, because the ingredients are there for the game to be a success… it just needs a bit more content and fine-tuning to keep me coming back for more. There are some clever ideas in play with the likes of the Bullshit Cards, playing with friends is a real treat, and the South Park vibe is present in both the storytelling and presentation, so the game is in no way a disaster. It just might be a little bit too repetitive right now to keep players invested for the long term.
