  • Engaging and addictive VR gameplay with tactile crafting mechanics and strategic risk management.
  • Excellent cooperative multiplayer experience that enhances fun and teamwork.
  • Well-optimized and accessible on a range of VR systems including Quest 2, with stylized, appealing visuals and continuous developer support.
  • Grab and hand physics are often buggy and frustrating, causing items to fly unpredictably and disrupting gameplay.
  • Short night durations limit the ability to get into a rhythm and enjoy crafting fully.
  • Some core mechanics, like the distiller and certain item interactions, suffer from bugs and lack polish, affecting overall immersion.
  • gameplay
    17 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The gameplay builds on its predecessor by offering expanded crafting options, strategic progression, and replayability through leaderboards and unlockables, creating an engaging mix of tactile mechanics and lighthearted management. However, many users find the grabbing mechanic frustrating and inconsistent, often disrupting the experience, and some report issues with controls and movement speed. Despite these flaws, the core gameplay loop is addictive and enjoyable, especially for fans of the first game.

    • “Pbp took the gameplay of pbvr and improved on it by expanding the number of crafts available, making the game one of the most replayable VR games. It features a leaderboard and permanent progression unlocks via the leverage system, where you complete customer orders to gain reputation that converts into leverage. This leverage can be spent on unlocks that simplify crafting, enhance efficiency, or increase storage, along with many free cosmetic items and new skins.”
    • “The result is a colorful and mischievous management experience that balances tactile crafting mechanics with lighthearted satire and strategic risk-taking.”
    • “At its core, the gameplay revolves around producing and selling goods that range from mildly questionable to outright illegal under the city’s strict prohibition rules.”
    • “I don't know how this game has a single good review. Room scale doesn't work. I have a room that's 9 feet by 9 feet; how is that not big enough for roomscale? Also, when selecting standing/seated mode you can't change setting, can't change rotation setting, can't change if seated or standing. When playing in standing mode I can touch each in-game wall meaning I have more than enough space. Also, grabbing stuff in this game is just as bad if not worse than in the first game. Nine times out of ten when two objects are near each other it grabs the object further away, sending the object I wanted to grab flying. This isn't a problem in any other VR game. Also, the turning speed is monstrously slow, and the character's walking speed is extremely slow. I loved the first game, the only problem was the grabbing mechanics; this game is horrid and just as unplayable.”
    • “However, this game being released just a few days ago still has many bugs but at the moment things like the grabbing mechanic are absolutely awful. I hate how the hands slowly snap to objects then teleport back to my controller, causing me to fling objects everywhere when all I'm trying to do is pick up one object.”
    • “Lots of improvements over the first game but the grabbing mechanics do need work to be less annoying.”
  • story
    8 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The story in Pbp is not focused on deep narrative or realism but instead offers a humorous and engaging sandbox experience centered around entrepreneurial antics. The game prioritizes replayability and fun over an intricate plot, making it accessible and entertaining rather than story-driven.

    • “While it may not aim for deep storytelling or hyperrealism, it excels at delivering a tactile, humorous, and replayable sandbox of entrepreneurial mischief.”
  • graphics
    7 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game features a strong, clean, and stylized cartoon art style that complements its satirical tone and is easy on the eyes. While the visuals represent a positive evolution from previous titles, some users suggest adding enhanced graphics options for PC or higher-end devices to provide more detail. Overall, the art style is well-received and aligns well with the game's theme.

    • “As a note on the game's visuals, it's a strong stylized art style that is simple, clean, and easy on the eyes.”
    • “Visually, Prison Boss Prohibition embraces a cartoon-styled aesthetic that complements its satirical tone.”
    • “As a person who thoroughly enjoyed the other game, I can say that in terms of graphics and the overall feel of the game, this is a huge step in the right direction.”
    • “I get why the devs did this but I think for the PC version dedicated graphics options should be added, with some levels given extra details for those who play on PC or Quest 3 (if it can handle it).”
    • “The graphics are very similar to the first game.”
  • stability
    6 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game currently suffers from numerous bugs affecting stability, with many users finding it frustrating to play until fixes are released. However, ongoing developer efforts and some bug-free sessions suggest improvements are possible, making it still enjoyable for some players despite the issues.

    • “Everything is genuinely so buggy, please do not buy this game until they release an update that fixes all the issues.”
    • “The distillers are just... buggy.”
    • “Good game, it's a bit buggy but I think it's fine; however, some recipes are kinda frustrating like in the docks the perfume.”
  • humor
    4 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game's humor is a key highlight, combining chaotic, playful moments with a lighthearted, entrepreneurial sandbox vibe that feels both fun and engaging. Its comedy enhances the cooperative experience, making the gameplay consistently entertaining and enjoyable.

    • “Working as a team not only increases efficiency but also amplifies the chaotic humor of the game’s premise.”
    • “While it may not aim for deep storytelling or hyperrealism, it excels at delivering a tactile, humorous, and replayable sandbox of entrepreneurial mischief.”
    • “It feels good, it's fun, it's funny.”
  • replayability
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game offers highly replayable VR gameplay through expanded crafting options, a leaderboard, and a permanent progression system that rewards completing customer orders with unlockable benefits and cosmetics. Its engaging, tactile sandbox experience emphasizes fun and replay value over deep storytelling or realism.

    • “Pbp took the gameplay of pbvr and improved on it by expanding the number of crafts available, making it one of the most replayable VR games. This is due to the leaderboard and permanent progression unlocks via the leverage system, where you complete customer orders to gain reputation. This reputation converts into leverage that can be spent on unlocks, making crafting easier or more efficient, adding more storage, cosmetics, and new skins—all available for free.”
    • “While it may not aim for deep storytelling or hyperrealism, it excels at delivering a tactile, humorous, and replayable sandbox of entrepreneurial mischief.”
  • grinding
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Players appreciate the new, less grind-heavy progression system and improved multiplayer, noting the game feels more polished than its predecessor. However, some still wish the grinding aspect was reduced further.

  • music
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music is highly praised for its catchy and memorable soundtrack, though a current bug prevents players from adjusting or turning off the music in the settings.

    • “The OST is great and I find myself humming it at random times.”
