  • story58 mentions

The game's story is generally perceived as simple and campy, fitting the zombie survival genre, but it lacks depth and variety, leading to repetitive quests. While some players appreciate its quirky humor and engaging premise, many criticize the linearity, short quest lengths, and various bugs that hinder progression. Overall, the narrative is seen as a mixed bag, with potential for improvement through additional content and better quest design.

    • “The story was quite captivating and very easy to follow; I also love that it doesn't take itself too seriously.”
    • “I liked the story - it wasn't deep, but it was the right amount of campy for a zombie base building, tower defending, quest giving RPG.”
    • “The engaging story keeps you wanting more.”
    • “Flat story, monotonous combat, and the main draw of hijacking a zombie to do stuff for you is more limited than the trailers let on.”
    • “The game is full of these tiny things that irritate you in the worst kind of way, you can sometimes clip over some walls by rolling, but you can't get out unless you destroy the wall. The animations of the cut scenes are just horrible, and I do hate that I cannot fast forward the dialog. Either you watch the whole cut scene or skip it completely. If you choose to watch the cut scene, then sometimes the characters stop talking for a few seconds... then they continue, but you don't fully know if the dialog is over, so you end up skipping half of the dialog scenes. Not that it matters, the story is just plain simple, there is no meat and no real interest to find out about it other than to continue with the same missions as the missions all seem to be the exact same with minor variations. The enemy variation is meh at best; I have fought only 2 bosses, and they were as easy as they come, more of a nuisance than a real fight.”
    • “The story is supposed to be lame and ironic, but it misses the mark and just comes off as annoying.”

The gameplay has received mixed reviews, with some players appreciating the improved mechanics and graphics, while others find it repetitive and lacking depth. Although the game introduces interesting concepts like zombot control and crafting, many feel these features are underdeveloped and hindered by frustrating mechanics. Overall, while there are enjoyable moments and a solid foundation, the gameplay may not sustain long-term engagement for all players.

    • “The gameplay is much improved from how to survive, as are the graphics.”
    • “Like I said before, while the core gameplay is nothing special, it is a solid foundation and plainly shooting zombies, upgrading your skills, and getting new stuff is fun and enjoyable.”
    • “The intricate design and compelling gameplay mechanics are sure to captivate your attention and immerse you in a world where every decision counts.”
    • “This game has a solid foundation that is unfortunately hindered by many bad and annoying gameplay decisions.”
    • “However, most of those mechanics are short-sighted and lacking the depth needed to make them fully enjoyable.”
    • “Weapon progression is terrible; the weapons themselves provide almost no unique gameplay, just higher DPS, but every weapon is level locked.”

    • “Has some graphic rendering issues.”
    • “The graphics are somehow blurry around the edges of the character, especially when you are moving (so you must turn off FSR), but even turning that off, you can still see some blurriness here and there.”
