The graphics in the game have received mixed reviews, with many players noting that they are outdated and poorly optimized, particularly for PC. While some aspects, like bike models, are praised for their detail, the overall visual quality suffers from a lack of graphical options, frame rate issues, and numerous bugs. Players have expressed disappointment in the game's inability to meet modern graphical standards, often comparing it unfavorably to older titles in the series.
“Maybe so, but if you compare the in-game graphics of the Losail night race in the rain and the real-life video of the same, you'll find that it's a surprisingly accurate rendition of the actual scene; surface reflections and all.”
“Overall, pretty happy with the game... great graphics, pretty good physics, and a decent selection of bikes...”
“Graphics look awesome mainly around the bike and immediate track area, but some improvements are required like in the stands and in the paddock.”
“The game has graphical issues.”
“Crap graphics and control options on a PC; I've got motorcycle GP games from over 10 years ago with far better graphics, controls, and gameplay.”
“There are virtually no graphics quality settings whatsoever and no anti-aliasing control at all.”

The game's optimization has been widely criticized, with many users reporting severe performance issues such as low frame rates, frequent crashes, and stuttering, even on capable hardware. It is described as a poorly optimized console port that struggles with bugs and inconsistent handling, detracting from the overall experience. While some players find potential enjoyment in the gameplay, the optimization problems are a significant barrier, leading to frustration and disappointment.
“There's also a basic upgrade system where you collect data cubes each time you set a timed lap per session, allowing you to boost the performance of your team's bike.”
“For sure, the options are not as extensive as in some games, but it's enough to allow balance between performance and image quality.”
“It's not really bad per se, but it's a safe setting that doesn't allow you to push the performance to its limit.”
“Runs in 8fps, bugs, crashes, not optimized at all, don't waste time on buying and then refunding this abomination...”
“Game is a poorly optimized console port.”
“I'm playing on a fairly competent machine, i7, 16gb, gtx670, ssd and the game performs poorly with frequent stuttering.”

The gameplay is generally praised for its realism and solid mechanics, with some reviewers noting improvements over previous iterations. However, criticisms arise regarding graphics quality, control options, and a cumbersome multiplayer system that detracts from the overall experience. Despite these issues, features like "Beat the Champions" and smoother gameplay contribute positively to the racing experience, making it enjoyable for fans of the genre.
“If there is anything they should keep from this game for the future, it is the ride mechanics/simulation.”
“This said, the gameplay is quite solid and I have had no real issues with it.”
“Great game and good sequel to '13; gameplay seems a bit smoother and the added gameplay modes are definitely a bonus.”
“Crap graphics and control options on a PC; I've got motorcycle GP games from over 10 years ago with far better graphics, controls, and gameplay.”
“The gameplay is fine, possibly even better than 2013's game, but that gets overlooked when you realize that the career mode only has half the riders it's meant to (and the others are 'day one' DLC that hasn't been released now some week and a half after the game was released).”
“I had graphics issues and slow gameplay initially, but found out that it defaults to the Intel graphics card.”

Despite its engaging gameplay, the lack of updates to address these issues detracts from the overall experience.
“It's only a shame that the game is buggy and there doesn't seem to be any update available to fix the bugs.”
“However, this game is currently buggy, even to the point of appearing to be an unfinished beta.”
“Mirred by a multitude of glitches and errors, Milestone definitely took a step backwards with the latest release in the MotoGP series.”

MotoGP 14 Review
While there's a few bad points here and there, none of these are game-breaking and could easily be addressed with a patch. The excellent gameplay speaks for itself and it's refreshing to see something different amongst the incredible number of car games out there that fail to remain distinct against their own competition.

There is a lot to like, a lot to recommend over Milestone's previous effort. While certain flaws still exist in the troubled development of the game, the gameplay and racing experience is exhilarating and the game is worth checking out if on sale.
