  • Unique concept of lunar survival with oxygen management and navigation between signal points
  • Decent atmospheric graphics and sound design that creates a moody space environment
  • Free to play and includes episodic content with potential for future improvement
  • Gameplay is tedious and slow-paced, mostly just holding a movement key to walk long distances
  • Invisible walls prevent access to most objectives making progression impossible
  • Physics and mechanics are poorly implemented: meteors behave unrealistically and oxygen system lacks consequence, no real player death
  • graphics
    88 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

User opinions on the game's graphics are highly polarized, ranging from descriptions of stunning, state-of-the-art visuals comparable to AAA titles to critiques of blurry, pixelated, and outdated imagery. While some praise impressive effects and atmospheric environments, others report glitches, lack of graphical settings, and distracting visual issues like camera shake and lighting bugs. Overall, the graphics are noted as either a major highlight or a significant drawback depending on the player's expectations and system performance.

    • “This game has some of the best graphics that I have ever seen in a game, whilst also having an excellent storyline on par with classics like The Last of Us.”
    • “I was drawn in by the amazing graphics; stayed for the heart-wrenching story and clever game mechanics.”
    • “The graphics are amazing for a free game, and the atmosphere is set perfectly.”
    • “The graphics are simple and the game ran more than fine on my non-gaming rig with an Intel integrated graphics card.”
    • “Once you open the game, you're met with display options, but the graphics aren't impressive even on the highest setting.”
    • “It's extremely blurry to the point where you can't see and the game's graphics look poor.”
  • gameplay
    81 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Gameplay receives mixed reviews, with some praising its immersive, realistic moon-walking simulation and unique mechanics like dodging asteroids, while many others criticize it for being repetitive, slow, and lacking meaningful interaction beyond basic walking. Issues cited include clunky controls, minimal objectives, frequent invisible walls, and monotonous pacing, making the gameplay feel unfinished and uninspired for many players. Despite its promising concept and atmosphere, the gameplay often fails to engage, needing significant improvements to fulfill its potential.

    • “Some of the best gameplay I've ever witnessed and had the pleasure to experience.”
    • “The gameplay is ultra realistic and honestly perfectly simulates how it would really be to walk on the moon.”
    • “The asteroids are truly a fun and interesting enemy type; you have big asteroids and slightly smaller asteroids, offering a diversity in gameplay.”
    • “The gameplay is not only agonizingly boring but I spent 9 minutes playing this game to reach a destination and find nothing there.”
    • “There is virtually no gameplay, just running in a straight line toward a waypoint while taking seemingly random damage, only to hit an invisible wall 1,000 meters from it, and being unable to find a path around it.”
    • “The main point of the game is to get to one of 5 crash sites, (only 1 of which will let you win), and the main mechanic of dodging asteroids is physically impossible due to the fact of how slow you are.”
  • story
    80 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game’s story is generally seen as shallow, incomplete, and poorly developed, with many players frustrated by its brevity, lack of depth, and invisible barriers disrupting immersion. While some praise the voice acting and ambient elements for creating an eerie atmosphere, most find the narrative confusing, underwhelming, or almost nonexistent, with several reviewers noting missed potential and unmet expectations. Overall, the story is regarded as one of the game's weakest points, needing expansion and polish to engage players fully.

    • “Enthralling story with complex character interactions.”
    • “This game has some of the best graphics that I have ever seen in a game, whilst also having some of the best storylines in a game as well, on par with such classics as The Last of Us.”
    • “The story and voice acting are just great.”
    • “In a generous mood, I might view the invisible barriers and ultimate futility of the experience as a powerful tribute to H.P. Lovecraft's 1939 short story "In the Walls of Eryx." But realistically, this isn't anything so high-minded -- it's a broken, incomplete game with most of the content never added, and yet crapped out onto Steam anyhow.”
    • “Dialogues on repeat, glitched screen effects, sped-up animations, and the mission coordinator's sitrep - the single, most important thing in this terrible creation - was cut in half with a provocative "find out more in the full-price game" title screen.”
    • “Playing this game is akin to torture, this sounds harsh but the game is a walking simulator without any of the atmosphere, story or any elements that go into making a successful walking simulator.”
  • stability
    35 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game suffers from severe stability issues, including frequent freezes, numerous graphical glitches, invisible walls, and erratic character behavior. These bugs significantly hinder gameplay, making exploration frustrating and undermining an already sparse and uneventful experience. Overall, the game appears poorly developed and not ready for release.

    • “How do we get away with releasing a poorly developed game with glitches and invisible barriers?”
    • “This game should never have been released in such an early and buggy state, just like Windows 10's launch but 10x worse.”
    • “You are stranded with a limited supply of oxygen and end up walking to a location of your choice several miles away which feels like it takes forever (because it does) and you have to deal with invisible barriers, glitches, invisible space debris that you can't avoid, and other problems that just aren't worth my time or yours.”
  • music
    34 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The music in the game is widely criticized for being a short, repetitive loop (often around 10-30 seconds) that plays constantly without variation or proper transitions, leading to monotony and annoyance. While some find the ambient or atmospheric tone somewhat fitting, the lack of audio settings and poorly looped breathing sounds further detract from the experience, making the soundtrack more grating than immersive.

    • “The music loop was cool and the breathing was epic.”
    • “The distressing music really comes into play and as a background makes this game more uneasing.”
    • “Haven't really played the game much but from the few minutes I played I was first greeted with lovely music on top of that the textures are just out of this world.”
    • “The sounds are just your breathing and a low humming soundtrack on repeat, and the world is completely uninteresting.”
    • “Walking sims generally don't make you walk across a featureless landscape for 20 straight minutes with the only sounds being the 20-second music loop (poorly looped) and the sound of your breathing (also poorly looped).”
    • “The 23 minimalistic soundtrack endlessly repeats itself, which could be alright if there were sound effects to interrupt the monotony.”
  • humor
    19 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The humor in the game is largely derived from its unintentional absurdity and "so-bad-it's-funny" moments, such as ridiculous physics with meteorites bouncing off players. While some find these flaws amusing and entertaining, others feel the humor falls flat and doesn't compensate for the game's poor quality. Overall, the game's humor is polarizing, hinging on its comedic incompetence rather than intentional wit.

    • “Spent 22 minutes breaking down ugly laughing at this game.”
    • “Being scary and mystic already, the game catches us off-guard with meteorites falling disgracefully in our direct vicinity and bouncing off like a rubber ball, sometimes hilariously hitting us in the head or body, making no difference than depleting a couple of percents of our oxygen levels.”
    • “I have had meteorites the size of small elephants just bounce off my character's head, which was hilarious.”
  • atmosphere
    10 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Reviews of the atmosphere are mixed: while some praise the game’s immersive and well-set atmosphere enhanced by good graphics and sound, others criticize it for repetitive audio, lack of engaging story elements, and unconvincing environmental effects that detract from realism. The slow pacing and distant objectives also lead to a sense of monotony despite the atmospheric setting.

    • “Genuinely immersive atmosphere.”
    • “The graphics are amazing for a free game, and the atmosphere is set perfectly.”
    • “The atmosphere feels about right.”
    • “Playing this game is akin to torture. This sounds harsh, but the game is a walking simulator without any of the atmosphere, story, or any elements that go into making a successful walking simulator.”
    • “Also, the asteroid impacts feel like they have no real force behind them. Seriously, I shouldn't be able to take a direct hit from something the size of a minibus and survive it. I'd at least expect some kind of noise too. Sure, there's no atmosphere, but what about when they hit me? There's air in my suit.”
  • monetization
    9 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Users criticize the game's monetization for feeling like a blatant cash grab, with an abrupt end transitioning into an advertisement for another game, leading to disappointment and frustration. The invasive advertising undermines the gameplay experience, making it seem unfinished and poorly designed.

    • “That just felt like a cash grab.”
    • “Sad that most green lighted games and early access games are now cash grabs with no intention to finish or give what they promise.”
    • “When you get to the one destination, a cutscene appears just advertising another game.”
  • emotional
    8 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game delivers a deeply emotional experience, combining beautiful visuals with a heart-wrenching story that resonates strongly with players. Many reviewers mention feeling moved to tears, highlighting its powerful narrative and immersive atmosphere. However, some frustration arises from certain gameplay mechanics that momentarily disrupt the emotional flow.

    • “Definitely enjoyable and heartbreaking.”
    • “I was drawn in by the amazing graphics; stayed for the heart-wrenching story and clever game mechanics.”
    • “Beautiful story, made me cry.”
  • grinding
    3 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Grinding in this game is described as extremely tedious and dull, likened to pointless, repetitive tasks that significantly detract from the overall experience.

    • “Grinding feels like banging my face on a rock for three minutes just to reach zero progress.”
    • “This is not a bad game, but it is dull and tedious due to excessive grinding.”
    • “The game's visuals promise more, but the grinding makes it a tedious experience not worth the download time.”
  • replayability
    2 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

Users find the game's replayability to be improved compared to previous entries, indicating it offers more engaging and repeatable gameplay.

  • character development
    1 mentions Positive Neutral Negative

The game features superb character development, offering deep and engaging growth for its characters.
