Emily Wants to Play Too

It's not often that the promotion campaign might be more enjoyable than the final product, but Wanted: Dead may have to grin and bear this ignominy. Despite some effort to subvert genre norms with its characters and amusing mini-games, the core action is bogged down by low production values, imbalance, and repetition. For every moment it hits its stride, there's another where it stubs its toe, and some slick execution animations are as imaginative as it gets.
"Emily Wants to Play Too" is a survival horror game where players control a delivery person who must navigate a series of spooky office buildings. Along the way, they'll encounter creepy animatronic characters who are determined to make the player's life difficult. The game is a sequel to "Emily Wants to Play," and offers new challenges and scares for fans of the original.

Gameplay in this title is noted for its diversity and complexity, offering a mix of randomized elements and new mechanics that enhance the experience. While some players find it clunky and lacking in narrative coherence, others appreciate the polished execution and variety that keeps the gameplay engaging from start to finish. Overall, it combines horror elements with strategic thinking, making for a thrilling experience despite some criticisms.
“The diversity in the gameplay in each hour is fantastic!”
“I've seen gameplay of this game, and even though I know how it goes, it's still really scary, especially because the game is randomized each time with item spawns.”
“It was really fun and had some clever mechanics outside of your typical horror games that make you pause and think while trying to avoid the people pursuing you.”
“Gameplay is basically the same - with added modes throughout the night.”
“For one, the gameplay is more complex than I expected it to be, but this isn't a bad thing.”
“I wasn’t expecting much and had only seen a bit of the prequel gameplay of this game, so I really didn't know what I was getting into.”

The game's story has received mixed feedback, with some players appreciating its continuation from the first installment and the added depth through hidden lore, while others criticize it for lacking coherence and emotional engagement. While some find the narrative simple yet effective, others feel it fails to explain key elements, such as the sudden appearance of evil dolls, leaving players wanting more context. Overall, the story is seen as a decent backdrop to the gameplay, but not a standout feature.
“Very well made, and a great continuation of the first game which already had a great story.”
“A different experience from the first game but still amazing, new characters and gameplay, all awesome and so is the story which gets added on and I can't wait for the third game.”
“When you reach the main location of the game, the police station, you will discover the backstory of Emily and her new doll friends, as well as a recap on the first game's dolls, Kiki, Chester, and Mr. Tatters.”
“Gameplay is super clunky, my character went flying because I stepped on a beer can and there's no story/explanation given for why there are suddenly evil dolls everywhere - the character doesn't seem particularly bothered by this either and just decides to have a shower and do the dishes.”
“Without ruining anything, the story was simple and sweet.”
“There are little hidden papers that give you more backstory throughout the office space and it adds to the horrific atmosphere.”

Overall, the humor adds a unique charm to the game's terrifying atmosphere.

Players find the grinding aspect of the game to be tedious and frustrating, particularly due to challenging enemies and repetitive tasks like cleaning. While some acknowledge that trial and error can be part of the experience, many feel that the initial stages are especially burdensome.
“The game is too hard, and the enemies are very obnoxious and tedious to deal with.”
“The beginning is a bit tedious if you don't know what to do, constantly having to shower and wash the dishes.”
“Some instances can be a little tedious, but a little trial and error never hurt anyone.”

The music aspect of the game is minimal, lacking ambient tracks and relying instead on sound effects and dim lighting to create a horror atmosphere. While the musical elements, such as the "musical lights" and "find emily" segments, introduce randomness that can affect gameplay difficulty, they do not significantly enhance the overall experience. Overall, the sound design contributes to a decent horror vibe, despite the absence of a more robust musical score.
“Like its predecessor, this game has borderline no difficulty outside of both the musical lights and Find Emily hours, where RNG decides if you win or lose. Musical lights can just have you be too far from the light room by the time the box runs out, and Find Emily can have you face unwinnable combos at once.”
“Add the fact that the game has no ambient music and it's all sounds and dimly lit scenery, and you've got a pretty decent horror game.”
