CASE: Animatronics Game Cover
CASE: Animatronics has decent atmosphere and unintentionally hilarious voice acting, but nothing really stands out, and most of the game is filled with boring and familiar horror cliches.

"CASE: Animatronics" is a first-person stealth horror game where you play as overworked detective John Bishop. While working late, the police department's security system is hacked, all exits are locked, and the power is shut off. To make matters worse, you're being pursued by animatronics controlled by a mysterious hacker, with red eyes and shifting, clanking metal sounds, in a terrifying fight for survival.

The story of the game is often criticized for being underdeveloped and lacking depth, with many reviewers noting that it feels disjointed and poorly conveyed through broken dialogue and voice acting. While some players find the premise intriguing and appreciate the horror elements, the overall narrative fails to engage, leaving many feeling unsatisfied and disconnected from the characters. Despite its attempts at storytelling, the game is frequently compared unfavorably to the Five Nights at Freddy's series, with many suggesting that it lacks the compelling plot and character development needed to elevate the experience.

    • “This game obviously has some similarities to Five Nights at Freddy's, but at the same time, it's its own unique game with an interesting story, and is just a terrifying game altogether.”
    • “It feels immersive and kind of a detective game trying to find notes to connect the story together, which is a brilliant idea for a FNAF-like game.”
    • “The story line is very fascinating, the game mechanics are terrifyingly epic, and it's worth the price.”
    • “Lack of a comprehensive storyline and characters you can't get attached to because it's so on the nose you might as well have drawn stick figures and labeled them 'bad guy', 'good guy', 'child who is angry'.”
    • “The story seems decent at first but it is told to you in some of the most awesome broken English dialogue which is delivered with some of the most amazingly terrible voice acting ever.”
    • “The story really doesn’t go deep given that it’s all about the gameplay.”

The gameplay of "Case: Animatronics" is a mixed bag, featuring a blend of stealth, puzzle-solving, and survival elements that some players find engaging, while others criticize it for frustrating mechanics and bugs. While the game offers a unique free-roaming experience reminiscent of "Five Nights at Freddy's," many reviews highlight issues such as teleporting animatronics, unclear objectives, and repetitive gameplay that detract from the overall experience. Despite its potential for tension and atmosphere, the execution leaves much to be desired, leading to a generally unfavorable reception regarding gameplay quality.

    • “The gameplay is a blend of stealth, puzzle-solving, and sheer survival.”
    • “The use of a tablet to monitor security cameras adds a strategic layer to the gameplay, but it's the need for silence and stealth that keeps you on the edge of your seat.”
    • “Overall, this is a great FNAF-inspired game, offering great jump scares and some fun gameplay.”
    • “If you want a free roam Five Nights at Freddy's game, just play Security Breach. This may have been the first 3D fan game, but it is bad. The story is mediocre, the gameplay is terrible, and broken animatronics constantly teleport in front of you, which defeats the whole point of the gameplay. It's a really bad game, and it's also only about 1 hour long.”
    • “It mistakes unfair mechanics and terrible code (I can't tell you how many times I've just up and died to invisible animatronics or got my legs caught on something that wasn't even there) for genuine difficulty.”
    • “The objectives aren't very clear, and neither are the mechanics or checkpoints, so I kept running in circles and dying over and over.”

    • “Graphics quite poor, story is boring and the fail rate is just too high so the game gets very repetitive in order to move 1 small step forward.”
    • “The history is poor, the graphics are poor, the settings in the game are non-existent, the movement and how you control the game sucks big time.”
