30 mentions Positive Neutral NegativeThe story of "Divide" is often praised for its intriguing sci-fi setting and well-developed characters, with many reviewers highlighting the compelling narrative and strong voice acting. However, the execution suffers from linearity and technical issues, leading to a lack of replay value and a feeling of repetitiveness in gameplay. While the story provides some resolution and is engaging enough to keep players interested, it is marred by clunky mechanics and a poorly executed overall experience.
“Divide dives into an interesting sci-fi story where you play as David, a father in his late 30s, maybe early 40s, who’s looking after his daughter while his wife mysteriously died in a laboratory experiment.”
“It takes a familiar, played-out sci-fi story and uses mechanics and interactivity to give it a fresh, insightful spin.”
“Rich in story, but less so in execution, Divide suffers from a few technical issues that make it a little more clunky than it should be.”
“Once you finish the story, the game isn't worth going back to as the story is rather linear and straightforward.”
“Maybe outright turning it into a point-and-click adventure game could have resulted in more development time and avoided this blatantly unfinished storyline with repetitive underground complexes for you to wade through.”
“Divide is an early contender for the worst releases of 2017, thanks to its largely boring story conveyed through awful voice acting, gameplay that can't handle most basics in an effective way, goals that boil down to 'wander around until you figure out how to advance', and a ton of glitches.”
Fractured future - Divide Review
Rich in story, but less so in execution, Divide suffers from a few technical issues that makes it a little more clunky than it should be. That said, the cyberpunk narrative is evocative of the best of sci-fi, backed up by a fantastic score. I just wish the controls matched that potential.
60%Divide Review - PS4
A neat concept alone is not enough to save a poorly-designed, technical jumble of an adventure game. Divide flickers into life on occasion, but far too briefly, and nowhere near bright enough to keep it interesting.
