The story of De-void is a slow-paced, atmosphere-driven sci-fi mystery centered on piecing together the fate of a vanished colony through environmental storytelling and audio logs. While some players find the narrative intriguing and immersive, especially as a prequel to Solarix, others criticize it for being thin, confusing, underdeveloped, and lacking strong character depth or clear plot progression. Overall, the story rewards curiosity but may feel incomplete or disjointed to those seeking a more conventional or tightly woven narrative.
“De-void is a slow-burn, atmosphere-first sci‑fi adventure that leans hard on mood and environmental storytelling.”
“Played De-void and it's less about shooting aliens and more about sinking into a slow-burn mystery - you're on a dead colony, crew's gone, but their thoughts and emotions are still lingering like ghosts in the walls; you're piecing together logs, wandering through abandoned stations, alien deserts, and weird forests, all while an AI buddy helps you make sense of the madness. It's moody, atmospheric, and feels more like unraveling a psychological puzzle than just exploring space - conspiracy, betrayal, paranoia, and something way older than humanity watching from the dark. Not fast-paced, but if you're into story-heavy sci-fi with creepy vibes, it hits.”
“I was one of the beta testers for De-void and although walking simulators are not my thing, I enjoyed exploring the environments in De-void, partly because I enjoyed PulseTense's previous title Solarix; therefore, the story and setting felt familiar. Also, there is always some sort of interaction in this game...most other walking simulators I watched from YouTube offer little interaction but here in De-void you can engage in the story in various forms, like audio logs, video logs, reading emails from computer terminals, inspecting objects and PDA from crew members... if you like story-driven sci-fi experience, you'll enjoy De-void.”
“The story isn't interesting and the way it's told is awful; the characters are soulless, there is a pervasive lack of tension or anticipation, and the final level is a navigational nightmare.”
“The game is so linear (and so short) that there just isn't any storyline, no plot.”
“Obviously you can still play de-void but you will end up with a story that has more holes than Swiss cheese.”
