The game's story is a mix of engaging character arcs and humorous dialogue, with over 100 unique characters, each possessing their own storylines that can range from deep and touching to light and comedic. However, many players have noted that some storylines feel underdeveloped or too short, often concluding abruptly after just a few interactions, which can lead to a sense of dissatisfaction. Additionally, bugs and glitches can hinder progress, making it difficult to complete certain character arcs, while the lack of a central plot may leave those seeking a more cohesive narrative feeling disappointed.
“The characters, designs, storylines, and secrets are all interesting and enjoyable!!”
“I absolutely adore the twists and turns of the various storylines; dating everything lets you tell.”
“The writing, art, music, and story are all done so well, and this is clearly a project of pure passion and inspiration.”
“A lot of the storylines are underdeveloped and getting to the end is uneventful; I got to 'love' with a few characters and not much happened (Dirk as the biggest example of this), and now we're just stuck in a dialogue loop of the same line every day.”
“I'm pretty disappointed that once you achieve a status with a character, that's it for their story.”
“Most storylines are completed within 6 interactions; many follow the same template (introduction -> repeatedly talking to them for some quest -> finish and choose an ending), and it's starting to feel monotonous.”
Date Everything Feels Like You’re Forced to Date Everything
Date Everything! is a sandbox dating simulator set in the comfort of your own home, featuring 100 fully voice acted datable characters! Let the romance flow between your bed, smoke alarm and… Overwhelming Sense of Existential Dread? Are you ready to Date Everything? Switch version reviewed. Review copy provided by company for testing purposes. I appreciate the gimmick and the talent in Date Everything, but it isn’t as well executed as other dating sim visual novels.
60%Date Everything (Xbox Series) REVIEW
Date Everything isn’t lying when it says you can date everything, and while that scale makes things repetitive, the hysterical writing and excellent voice acting ensure your constant entertainment.
80%"A masterclass in character design full of wonderful faces I love meeting, but juggling so many means sacrificing depth"
Date Everything is a masterclass in character design, full of wonderful faces based on everyday household objects that spring to life who I love getting to meet. Still, juggling 100 characters is an ambitious undertaking, and a lack of nuance means some feel flatter than others, sacrificing some depth. Date Everything is at its best embracing interpersonal dynamics that make the house feel alive. Still, it's well worth working from home for this.
