The game's story is described as intriguing but poorly delivered, relying heavily on text logs that many players find tedious and confusing. While some appreciate the potential of the narrative and its sci-fi elements, the lack of engaging gameplay and meaningful storytelling detracts from the overall experience, leaving players wanting more depth and clarity. Overall, the story has promise but suffers from execution issues, leading to a mixed reception.
“A great sci-fi short story driven game.”
“It's a compelling story that makes you want to keep going, check out my video to see what I mean.”
“Breached's storytelling is strong, but its mechanics wear thin.”
“It's hardly even entertainment, let alone a game, and as for being 'story driven', well... I've seen more text and relevant content on the back of a cereal box.”
“After that, the lack of any meaningful story outside of a smattering of text logs grew exceptionally boring, and the gameplay itself lacks any meaningful style or content.”
“Alas, the poor story, bland soundtrack, and weak controls are the perfect recipe for a snore fest.”

The gameplay in "Breached" is characterized by its simplicity but is often described as frustrating and lacking clarity, particularly regarding enemy mechanics and level design. Players find the controls clunky and the objectives tedious, with many elements feeling like chores rather than engaging gameplay. While the narrative has potential, the overall experience is marred by repetitive tasks and a lack of meaningful interaction, leading to a generally negative reception.
“Mix of FPS gameplay versus puzzle-solving.”
“All core mechanics are, mostly, excellent both in their elegant simplicity and execution.”
“Gameplay is immersive enough to scare you sometimes.”
“The gameplay is simple, yet terribly frustrating.”
“The core gameplay in Breached is just bad.”
“(update 05/2019: I had the opportunity to try the game under Steam Play, and I can say that the gameplay was not enjoyable. The game plays with just the mouse and the left-click, which accelerates you across three different maps. The map objects are interesting, but the level design is frustrating. Additionally, there are 'anomalies' which are just real-life screen glitches, which are terribly annoying. The level objectives are camped out by these things, which makes getting the objectives a chore. No mini-map, just explore the level, and try not to bump into these things that cause glitches. The game narrative is decent enough, there is a bit of a puzzle for fuel rations, but the level design gameplay kills the deal. I made it most of the way through the game, which I found to be very, very short, without replay value. Cannot recommend in any situation.)”

The graphics of the game are widely praised for their impressive art style and great visuals, effectively creating a cool and immersive atmosphere. Users appreciate the UI design and layout, noting that the overall aesthetic enhances the futuristic setting, despite a few minor inconsistencies in certain map areas. Overall, the graphics are considered a strong point, especially for a smaller game, with many finding the post-processing effects appealing.
“As for me, it was a very rewarding experience with great art style and plausible futuristic views.”
“The artwork is good, the UI layout and design is pretty; everything, minus a couple of weird exceptions in one of the map areas, seems to reinforce the overall atmosphere of the game.”
“For such a small game, the graphics were impressive; the sound/music (though others have complained) were also fine.”
“Graphics mostly rely on post-processing, but who cares as long as it looks cool.”

The music in the game receives mixed reviews; while many praise the ambient soundtrack for effectively setting the mood and enhancing the surreal atmosphere, others find it bland and unremarkable, suggesting it may even serve as a sleep aid. Overall, the sound design contributes positively to the game's aesthetic, despite some criticisms regarding its depth and engagement.
“The pros: great ambient music, it really helps set the mood for the game.”
“These places look like dreams and the music makes everything quite surreal.”
“[Cool and mysterious sci-fi world, the drone is fun to pilot, aesthetically pleasing with a good musical score.]”
“The bland soundtrack is not worth the DLC purchase... unless you have insomnia and require sleep? It's a good remedy here!”
“Alas, the poor story, bland soundtrack, and weak controls are the perfect recipe for a snore fest (unless that is what you seek!).”
“For this small amount of time, you will enjoy some lifeless land views, an atmospheric soundtrack, and the strange story of Corus Valott.”

Overall, the game's replayability is criticized for being minimal, with many players feeling that the "story mode" unlocked after completion lacks meaningful engagement. The gameplay is described as frustrating due to poor level design and annoying glitches, which detracts from the experience and leaves little incentive to replay. Despite some interesting elements, the short campaign and lack of depth in replay options lead to a general consensus that the game does not offer significant replay value.
“Two main reasons to play this game (on lesser and bigger scale) are anomalies and replayability.”
“Replayability here is its own thing, seriously.”
“Wherever you see a well-designed replayability you get something from dying/failing and trying again.”
“After beating the game once, you unlock a 'story mode' that does not have this time constraint, but since there isn't really much of any replayability, I'm not sure what its point was.”

The game's atmosphere is enhanced by its impressive artwork, atmospheric soundtrack, and unique storytelling, creating a distinct and immersive experience. However, some players feel that while the atmosphere is commendable, it cannot fully compensate for the lack of depth in other gameplay elements. Additionally, the drone sections, though atmospheric, could benefit from improved navigation tools like a mini-map.
“For this small amount of time, you will enjoy some lifeless land views, an atmospheric soundtrack, and the strange story of Corus Valott.”
“The commitment to a unique, indelible atmosphere in the game is admirable.”
“The drone sections would be better with a mini-map, but they contribute well to the atmosphere.”

Players find the grinding aspect of the game to be confusing and tedious, particularly due to the pacing of the storyline that interrupts the grinding sessions. Many express frustration with the delivery of lore, feeling overwhelmed and disengaged from the narrative as a result.
“I find it confusing and tedious. If you have some good background lore, then feed it to me at the ideal pace rather than forcing me to try and make sense of it all, because I won't; I'll just give up on the story element.”
