The gameplay has been criticized for its clunky mechanics and lack of depth, with many players feeling that it quickly becomes repetitive and fails to offer new or creative experiences. While some appreciate the core gameplay as fun, the overall execution leaves much to be desired, leading to disappointment regarding character development and story integration. Additionally, issues with grammar and typos detract from the experience, though they are seen as minor compared to the gameplay flaws.
“The core gameplay is good and fun, despite some areas for improvement.”
“Just maybe don't expect to get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it.”
“The game is well made, but after 20 minutes of gameplay, you have already seen the whole game.”
“The gameplay feels clunky, the items are bad, you kill people or get nuked and that's it; that's all the game has to offer. They put the story behind and demolished the characters, never even giving them a chance to build up.”
“After three hours of gameplay, I should have uninstalled it or stopped at the two-hour mark and refunded it.”
“Just kind of pisses me off that the game is well made, except that after 20 minutes of gameplay, you have already seen the whole game.”

The graphics of the game have received mixed reviews, with some users noting that they resemble a blend of League of Legends and Borderlands, while others find them merely average compared to more polished titles like Dota 2. Despite this, the art style and atmosphere are appreciated, and the innovative combination of influences is seen as a strength that contributes to the game's overall appeal.
“The atmosphere was nice, the graphics were alright, and the combat was interesting enough, but nothing really stuck out when faced against the other more well-developed games such as League of Legends or Dota 2.”
“Above average graphics.”
“I've read this before, but League of Legends graphics mixed with a Borderlands theme on top of a Warcraft 3 game mode is what a lot of people familiar with those games are seeing. I agree with them, but I believe the innovation to actually make that work well together is what makes this a strong contender and a fun game.”
“It's a shame that the game was released in this state, especially considering the year it was released. The art style, in my opinion, resembles the characters and world from Krater.”
“The graphics are similar to League of Legends.”
“I've read this before, but the graphics feel like a mix of League of Legends and Borderlands, layered on top of a Warcraft 3 game mode. While some may find this combination interesting, it lacks originality.”

The story aspect of the game is criticized for being underdeveloped and lacking depth, with characters feeling insignificant and their backgrounds unexplored. Players express disappointment that the narrative is overshadowed by gameplay mechanics, leading to a sense of disconnection from the characters and their roles in the world. While some appreciate the dystopian setting and potential for a more engaging story, many feel that the current execution fails to provide a meaningful narrative experience.
“So, anyway, for $1, it's a nice little dystopian hack and slash tower defense game with several character choices, ability and weapon upgrades, and a decent selection of maps to battle on (and a somewhat twisted story to tie it all together).”
“Why drop us in a world so well made, make the rooster and the recruiting make the character feel like they are just a nobody? The classes feel weak and unimportant, with no story for each of them.”
“Where did they come from, and what part do they have to play in the story? This is still about bloodsport; the gameplay feels clunky, the items are bad, you kill people or get nuked and that's it. That's all the game has to offer. They put the story behind, demolishing the characters they never even gave a chance to build up.”
“They could have made a great game if they just had added more content, maybe even a story mode instead of arena only.”

Overall, the reviews indicate mixed feelings about replayability. While some players find the game fun and engaging due to the escalating strength of characters, others criticize it for lacking sufficient content and depth to encourage repeated play. The unique aesthetic and setting are appreciated, but many feel that the game ultimately falls short in providing lasting replay value.
“It's fun and replayable since both the player and enemies start getting ridiculously strong.”
“Overall, it's pretty good, solid controls, smart cast, and decent replayability.”
“Warcraft III x Hero Siege vibes, worth getting the 5-pack on sale, but not a lot of content or replay value.”
“Bloodsports has an interesting aesthetic and a unique setting for the hero defense genre, but ultimately it falls flat and just doesn't have the replayability that a game like this could, and should, have.”
“But the replayability and the overall experience just won't allow me to.”

Character development in the game is criticized for its lack of differentiation between ability levels, leading to a monotonous experience. While the character design is deemed average, the overall hero experience falls short, detracting from the game's engagement.
“Having level 1 of most abilities feels the same as levels 2, 3, 4, etc. I don't think the character design is either terrible or great, but in a game so dependent on controlling your hero, having a lackluster hero experience is definitely a big minus.”
“The character development feels shallow and uninspired, making it hard to feel a connection with the hero as they progress.”
“I expected more depth in character growth, but the progression system feels repetitive and fails to offer meaningful choices.”
