The gameplay is built on solid mechanics and a classic concept reminiscent of Asteroids, featuring wave-based challenges and a variety of power-ups that enhance the experience without requiring deep understanding. However, players express a desire for additional meta progression elements, such as unlockable ships and upgrades, to enrich the gameplay further. Overall, while the core loop is enjoyable, there is a sentiment that it could benefit from more depth and customization options.
“Asteroids... but roguelite is like the eponymous game of its class in a sub-sub-genre of shmup that includes space smash and burst drive -- in the class of 'really close to asteroids where it's a single screen playing field, but then there is deep gameplay in the power-ups you can pick up. You're not required to understand them, just soak them up and enjoy the fireworks.'”
“Too bad, solid mechanics and classic concept... just needs a little meta progression and maybe a couple of unlockable ships with selectable starting weapons. Meta progress could be really simple, like armor, weapon recharge speed, base damage, and maybe unlockable slots for a random starting upgrade or two. A special reward for defeating a boss or an upgradable lock-on system (upgrading how fast it locks on and the range of lock-on) for aiming would be cool, as I have the worst trouble with twin stick controls. I always pull the stick as I try to pull the trigger... but it's a pipe dream as I am sure there are no updates coming... ever.”
