Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD follows Aveline de Grandpré, a female Assassin, in 18th century New Orleans as she fights against the Templars and uncovers secrets of her past. This HD version boasts updated graphics and gameplay enhancements from the original handheld version.

- Aveline is a compelling and unique protagonist, being the first female assassin in the series.
- The persona system adds depth to gameplay, allowing players to approach missions in different ways.
- The setting of 18th-century New Orleans and the Bayou is beautifully designed and immersive.

The story of "Assassin's Creed: Liberation" has received mixed reviews, with many players finding it to be disjointed and lacking depth compared to other titles in the series. While some appreciate the unique setting of New Orleans and the character of Aveline, they often criticize the pacing, linearity, and abrupt transitions in the narrative. Overall, the story is seen as mediocre, with a few interesting elements overshadowed by bugs and repetitive mission structures, making it less engaging for players seeking a compelling plot.
“The setting is one of the best in the series, New Orleans near the end of American slavery, and the story and characters take full advantage of that setting, creating something that you wouldn't be able to transplant into any other setting.”
“Aveline's a cool character with a propensity for sarcasm and a passion for ending the slave trade, and she's surrounded by interesting people from all walks of life--her assassin mentor, her stepmother, her 'business' partner who is definitely not hopelessly in love with her, her merchant father, the smugglers in the bayou... they're all well written and feel important to the story and to Aveline's progression as a character.”
“The story is engaging and I really enjoyed the different persona systems.”
“The story is alright, but it feels all over the place, more so than the other AC titles.”
“The story is very linear and nothing really to do, which could keep you occupied.”
“The story is totally disconnected, and sucks.”
Assassin’s Creed: Liberation HD Review
Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD is a significant improvement of the original, and stands to be one of the, if not the best port that's ever made it's way from a hand-held device.
70%Assassin's Creed Liberation HD Review
Overall, Assassin's Creed Liberation looks and feels like a cheap knock-off of the series, and almost every aspect feels like a dumbed-down version of what players have come to expect from the series. While Liberation may have been impressive for a handheld device, the console port serves only to draw attention to the title's flaws. At a $20 price tag, I'd advise that players save their money for Assassin's Creed IV DLC instead.
