The gameplay is characterized by simple mechanics and limited resources, which some players find appealing, while others criticize the infestor mechanics and the reliance on defeating bandit camps to unlock high-tech advancements. Many reviewers suggest that the game requires significant development and the addition of more engaging mechanics, such as the ability to build advanced factories for technology, to enhance the overall experience. Additionally, features like customizable army icon colors could improve gameplay clarity, especially in expansive maps.

    • “It has simple mechanics and few simple resources.”
    • “No worrying about a ton of different mechanics or meta-game stacking modifiers like the Paradox community.”
    • “Maybe allowing players to change army icon colors would help in later gameplay when sprawling map syndrome sets in.”
    • “I personally detest the infestor mechanics.”
    • “High tech again, you need to kill off bandit camps to get them is the most stupid mechanic ever. It's not like we attack bandits to be able to build tanks and helicopters in the real world. This is supposed to be a simulation of the real world with zombies. It would be better if you had the chance to build an advanced factory to get the high tech. It could be pricey and needed to be researched before you can build it, but it would make for much better gameplay. Now you either must march your army that you need to defend with to the bandit base and back again, which could be from France all the way to Russia, but you could also make your people panic more, raising the panic level and letting your own people create a bandit camp within your nation, which ruins the whole 'gotta keep that panic level low' scenario.”
    • “Maybe allowing players to change army icon colors would help (e.g., being able to change an army icon to yellow for one army that has only militia in it, orange for a mixed army, etc.). This might help in later gameplay when sprawling map syndrome sets in.”
