About
VirtuaVerse is a single player puzzle game with a science fiction theme. It was developed by Theta Division and was released on May 12, 2020. It received mostly positive reviews from critics and positive reviews from players.
"VirtuaVerse" is a single-player Science Fiction Point and Click game with an intriguing story, good gameplay, phenomenal graphics, and a masterful soundtrack. In a world where society has migrated to a neural network-connected reality, Nathan, an outsider and smuggler of modded hardware, discovers his girlfriend Jay is missing. Determined to find out what happened, he sets off on a journey through a digital and physical world filled with grinding, humor, and atmosphere.

- Gorgeous pixel art and animations that create a vibrant cyberpunk atmosphere.
- Incredible synthwave soundtrack that enhances the overall experience.
- Challenging puzzles that encourage creative thinking and exploration.
- Many puzzles are overly obtuse and require excessive backtracking, leading to frustration.
- The protagonist is unlikable and often engages in morally questionable actions without consequence.
- The story becomes convoluted and lacks a satisfying resolution, especially towards the end.
- story672 mentions Positive Neutral Negative
The story of the game is a mixed bag, with many players appreciating its cyberpunk themes and world-building, while others criticize it for being generic, convoluted, or lacking depth. Some found the narrative engaging and well-written, particularly in its exploration of technology's impact on society, but many felt that the plot was hindered by frustrating puzzles and a lack of character development. Overall, while the aesthetic and soundtrack received high praise, the story often fell short of expectations, leaving players divided on its effectiveness.
“This story has been a truly inspiring source of thought and visual stimulation.”
“The story is one of the best-written around that is so rare and enjoyable to follow from start to end.”
“A compelling story accompanied with beautiful vaporwave pixel aesthetics.”
“Unfortunately the game really lacks plot hooks or traditional plot elements.”
“There is no plot other than 'find your girlfriend'.”
“The overall plot just seems to make him real problematic as well…he wakes up finds his girlfriend gone and instead of trusting her he shows he has extreme control issues and goes on a quest to literally hunt her down involving using her credit cards illegally.”
VirtuaVerse review — Weapon of mass distraction

80%VirtuaVerse Review
VirtuaVerse isn't all bad. It is a solid 10-plus hour plot that is a clear homage to some of the best portrayals of this dystopian vision of a futuristic world. There are a few nice set pieces here and there, and from a graphical standpoint, the visuals pop on the screen and are incredibly memorable. Likewise, the musical score compliments them ideally. However, this is an adventure that never gets off the ground thanks to lacklustre main characters, forgettable dialogue, and a clichéd plot. Worse still, the puzzling point-and-click adventure aspects of gameplay detract from the above more often than they enhance.
60%VirtuaVerse Review – Escape from virtual reality
Though unfortunate, I think I like the idea of VirtuaVerse more than the meat of it. The premise, art, music, and potential are all fantastic. But when it came time to actively engage with the game, I was hindered by unremarkable characters and poorly-conveyed puzzles. I enjoyed it nonetheless, and it definitely has the most important thing for a Cyberpunk game – the soul. So it’s still an easy recommendation from me – you just might want to keep a walkthrough on standby to keep yourself from becoming infuriated.
