The game's story is criticized for being shallow and lacking depth, with many players reporting issues such as uncompleted quests and bugs that reset progress. While some appreciate the initial concept and graphics, they feel the narrative fails to engage, and the gameplay mechanics hinder meaningful story progression. Overall, the potential for a compelling story exists, but current execution leaves much to be desired.
“It has potential, the graphics are good so far the storyline is going well.”
“Although there are some issues with progress retention and story development, it is a great game; can't wait to see how it develops in the future.”
“Game is still good; I don't mind if I have to start again as the game is in more like release beta stage so these things happen and I think I might've pissed a few clans while raiding too much from the start. You should really follow quests to play the storyline properly and raid only 'pirate' clans as you will fight those others later on (quest line starts after you do your first raid and sail a bit).”
“I thought the concept of the game was good when I first saw it, but I believe that this game is pretty much abandoned by the developers. The trading system is good, but apart from that, virtually none of the missions are completable. The combat system is basically just hacking at enemies with absolutely no strategy whatsoever. The English subtitles just about make sense if you are a toddler. You spend half your life running back to defend your city because you can only station 80 men as a garrison, and even when your men outnumber the AI, they can't win. The conquering and control of areas is nigh on impossible. If you see this game, run in the opposite direction and don't waste your cash.”
“There's not really a deep story here.”
“Quest story is fairly boring and lackluster.”

The gameplay is generally well-received, drawing comparisons to Mount & Blade 2 with added naval battle mechanics, but it suffers from bugs, particularly with saving and loading, which can disrupt the experience. While players appreciate the engaging mechanics and potential for depth, they express a desire for improvements in combat, sieging, AI behavior, and overall game functionality. Many hope for future updates to enhance the gameplay experience further.
“I really loved the gameplay in this game!”
“The gameplay is very engaging, especially because of the Mount & Blade vibe.”
“Sailing mechanics are enjoyable, but I would like better camera control.”
“It has decent gameplay, I guess, but I saved with around 60 troops and reloaded with nothing but me and Eric, which is quite annoying when I now have to restart the entire game after 4+ hours of playing. It'd be nice if the game functioned better before you actually released it, but I guess it is early access. I just hope they don't keep pumping out more games and actually work on their games and update them to make them even better since they have very high potential at being fantastic games.”
“It's got potential, but bugs with saving/loading and bad mechanics.”
“Not a lot of core mechanics, and the combat is pretty basic.”
